Dayum! This was fun to record, albeit about a really rather quite racist film now!

Check out Dev and I chatting the first RUSH HOUR on @atthe90smovies.bsky.social too!

Ernest Hemingway started making crystal meth out of an RV in his pants.

Okay, I might actually persevere with From now, despite getting to the end of a maddeningly inconclusive third season that made me want to put my head in the oven.

If it’s getting a definitive ending, it might be worth pushing on with.

A fair bit, I think. I’ve just read a book called Year of the Rat about infiltrating far right networks and this gets mentioned as a key moment where the Overton Window begins slowly shifting. You don’t get Farage repeatedly on QT without Griffin getting blockbuster ratings.

Hugh, there are three of us now!

But yes, thanks so much for listening and sharing, we really appreciate it. I think Skinamarink is really interesting but I enjoyed talking about it more than watching it 😀

That one was a slog. Fair play to him though for puncturing the sex symbol image at the end of the 60s there!

I think a lot of them are iffy but yeah, he always stands up as solid even when the material isn’t there. Amazes me how lost some of them are - has anyone seen The Next Man since 1976? 😀

I feel like this comment could apply for a surprising amount of his films, John 😀

Loved this chat with Brian. We get deep into the Bond wilds about the body politic, reflections of Scaramanga, and he mounts an impressive defence of Die Another Day.

Bond fans, really hope you enjoy.

Not even AI could create something as mental as this will likely be.

Yeah that’s perhaps where they’ve gone too far the other way.

Some writing today about modern #StarTrek, principally why Starfleet Academy—despite being the big new thing of the franchise—is over before it’s really begun.

This is where he could go hugely wrong, pushing too far against British traditions. He won’t win broader appeal suggesting Brits give up stuff like this.

Great bit of analysis in this 🧵 of one of my favourite sci-fi films, an absolute staple of my childhood.

I remember reading it was always planned as three seasons, much like Lasso originally. Feels like Bill Lawrence & co just can’t resist that Apple money truck.

They’ve been scared into the opposite direction they were heading in, I think. Everything now is to be accessible and relatively separate because they fear the inter-connectivity was putting people off. Which is probably true.

Another great horror chat about one of the best British horror flicks in recent years.

Still can’t get the ending out of my head.

Hope you enjoy!

Honestly, he’s almost certainly doing this again and again to short the stock market and help his family & friends make a killing. I don’t believe a word of all this fire and brimstone bullshit. He’s always been mouth and no trousers.

I thought for a minute you’d said “wished you had”, and I was about to say “believe me, you don’t”. That book ought to be mandatory reading for anyone living in a country who willingly have nuclear weapons.

Yep. They’re idiots. Good on the government for what they’ve done.
