I might be late at sharing this, but I just listened to an interesting @radiolab.bsky.social episode exploring models of how ketamine & psychedelic drugs (when used in very specific contexts - this is crucial) could 'reset the brain' & may be clinically beneficial radiolab.org/podcast/the-...
Excited to see this review manuscript from lab MD/PhD student Dalton Fitzgerald officially out in Addiction Neuroscience!

Looks great!
I'm not entirely sure why, but today I've been slightly distracted by Medieval art featuring killer rabbits.
There are many layers here, but I want to comment on one aspect of these findings for now--the editorial board representation. Some will see this and immediately think: we need to get more POC on our boards! I understand that impulse, but encourage you to think a few steps down the game tree 1/n.
Check this out! Work with me and other amazing scientists at Sussex!
A nice little article on collaborative science and bringing novel approaches to the lab. I mostly agree with it, but I do think it's probably easier to have a multidisciplinary lab if you are a more established faculty member.
There is still time to submit your papers for the upcoming special issue in #Psychopharmacology "Stress, Trauma and Cannabinoids" (deadline Dec 31st), guest edited by @connorhaggarty.bsky.social , @mayoonthebrain.bsky.social, Christine Rabinak and Christelle Baunez. link.springer.com/journal/213/...
The Department of Pharmacology is advertising a faculty position for someone to study addiction. I enjoyed my time at Michigan, and there are fantastic researchers in Ann Arbor. If you're OK with the snow in the winter, I encourage you to apply! careers.umich.edu/job_detail/2...
Only a day left to apply for a research technician position in my lab. Be part of an exciting project, looking at how early life adversity impacts the development of drug and gambling addiction-like behaviour. jobs.sussex.ac.uk/job/49b38475...

New paper with @jocelynrichard.bsky.social + @janaklab.bsky.social! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
First post here; I thought I'd post something not related to science. In my spare time, I'm a volunteer shepherd for Brighton (a 'lookerer') - here are our ponies :)
