Out and about in local woodland today on the hunt for microfungi .Over the moon to find another Pseudoscorpion but what on earth these two larvae are goodness only knows !๐

In winter i spend a lot of time in the woods turning over pieces of wood/branches, hoping to find Ascos.On christmas eve i found this little beauty.Obsi says its an Epo !Any info would be greatly accepted ๐

Yesterday 5 of us intrepid naturalists braved the fog and visited a very remote Larch stand on the edge of the NYMNP to look at the rare lichens there !We weren't disappointed !๐
With the fungi season slowly dwindling my attention turns towards lichens.Today i was rewarded with a new one:Coniocarpon cinnabarinum !!On Hazel by a stream side in VC62.Spores averaged 9.6 x 25.6 um !Yes i have purchased a microscope ! No VC62 records ๐ค .
Out on the moors today looking at Fungi.More examples of Lichenomphalia umbellifera found and possibly Laetisaria lichenicola on Physcia ๐ค .@jennyseawright.

I found this wonderful Cladonia on the moor edge here in VC62.Cladonia rangiformis or C rangiferina perhaps ๐ค

Called in to see a friend today at Ruswarp, near Whitby , VC62.As we walked round her lovely garden we spotted, Western conifer seed bug,Box bug and Hawthorn shieldbug.Also 2 fresh Common blues and 4 Small copper butterflies !

This Fistulina hepatica ( Beefsteak fungus) was a tad " overdone" for my liking !๐
Today i noticed a thallus of Hypogymnia with yellow patches.I presumed a fungal attack, however a friend has suggested Usnic acid leachate ๐ค๐ค

After 12mm of rain over the last 2 days, some of the common lichens on the moors look much fresher !Platismatia glauca and Parmelia omphalodes here on a large wooden post !
