His expression is wide-eyed, fearful and nearly indignant; while his mother accepts the cycle she perpetuates, he is defiant, even as he clings to her - desperate for her guidance, for her to join him in freedom, even if he knows she will not. Behind them both is their legacy: the blue serpent, continuing the cycle, endlessly eating its own tail.
