X suspended Gil Duran, author of this forthcoming book for calling Palantir and the recent manifesto it published, fascist

Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
“This bill forces homeless people charged with a crime to make the false choice between jail or at least one year of forced treatment. Louisiana has a long history—and present—of chain gangs, prison labor, and entrenched white supremacy" says @homelesslaw.bsky.social
I don't think I've ever read a sentence as unappealing as "Jim Caviezel is Jair Bolsonaro."
As Isabel put it, we must ask ourselves: what is power without decency? What is power without checks and balances? And what is power if it fails to serve the most vulnerable in our society?

The regalia has found a new home. Thanks to everyone who shared the post.
Hegseth saying “The Pharisee Press” should be a fully mask off moment. He is saying “The Jewish Press”. But Christians of all political stripes are so devoted to using Pharisees as a rhetorical prop that liberal Christians regularly insist it’s totally fine, no matter how many Jews try to explain.
The House passed our extension of TPS for Haiti with a 224 vote victory of Democrats & Republicans alike.
This has been a long-fought battle to defend our Haitian neighbors & our communities, and we're not letting up.
The Senate must take action without delay.
LBC tweet promoting an interview with Lauren Southern
Shame on news outlets for letting Lauren Southern do her... third?... publicity tour denouncing the far-right while making no clear efforts to counteract the movement. She continues to seek profit off her association with it while shielding others in it from accountability. She's grifting. That's it

Trump getting into a fight with the church is probably the best thing to happen for Catholicism since Vatican 2
Do you know a journalist who fits the bill? The Rosa Luxemburg Journalism Fellowship will award one $30,000 fellowship to an early to mid-career journalist w/a history of progressive writing who lacks institutional support to do their journalistic work. Deadline to apply is April 20 at 11:59 pm ET.
You love to see it
You also don't have to hand it to Joe Kent. Read more about why 👇
we’ve talked a lot about how AI might con people into believing bad things, but it is sad to think of how it will also make us stop believing in wondrous things too
Go to the footnotes as well for the tea, like the interaction where Beiner told Christopher Rufo he might tell on him to his mom about his fascist affinities, and Dugin calling Beiner a "swampy liberal idiot"
It's a good book but also expensive. I'm sure he'd understand if you ask your library to find it for you. It collects articles he published elsewhere, so you could find them other places, but there are also a lot of detailed updates and added analysis in the footnotes you don't want to miss.
copy of Radical Right Ideologues in the Age of Trump, thin paperback, held by white hand in front of laptop on cluttered desk. there's also a cute little sign that says "make waves" that I got on a beach as a souvenir during one of my breaks from learning about the bad things!
One guy who really gets this problem and hews a good path is Canadian political scientist Ronald Beiner. Just finished writing a review of his new book Radical Right Ideologues in the Age of Trump (Routledge 2026) for Journal of Hate Studies.
Writing about fascist intellectuals involves challenges. Ignoring them lets them fester, organize, and infiltrate unimpeded. But giving them attention is risky too: we don't want to legitimize, popularize, or grant their fucked-up ideas an aura of sparkly transgressive intrigue.
Yes please :)
I converted to Catholicism last week. Here’s why it’s necessary for the United States to invade Vatican City and install its own pope.
The Huntington Library recently unveiled Sandy Rodriguez’s “Book 13,” which features a 20-foot-wide U.S. map of child migrant detention centers alongside federal Native-American boarding schools.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois

incredible stuff
This is such a good idea. We should do this in NYC.
