The actual reality is that Hillary Clinton ran easily and comfortably the most 'progressive' major party General Election campaign in American history while Obama 2012 and Biden 2020 were probably the two most moderate-coded GE campaigns in this entire stretch

a weird thing about 2020 is that the Biden Campaign won by ignoring most of the stuff the other campaigns had been doing in 2019-20 and this made the left mad (because they won while ignoring it) and the right mad (because they won so Dems weren't punished for it)

this is also why you get weird stuff like people on the right or 'radical centrists' insisting that the 2024 election was a referendum on 2020-style liberalism (rather than... the election that actually happened in 2020)
