10 years ago today, Carly Rae Jepsen released “Run Away With Me.”
Really proud to have coordinated this work!
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
I remember being in the office and really excited about this. Has Brooklyn Baby on repeat for a week.
fame is a gun!!
had this yesterday highly recommend 50% soup 50% cheese, sending love xx
New gonorrhoea vaccine programme announced today, along with full mpox vaccine rollout.
This is a welcome and much needed investment in sexual health. We must ensure both vaccines reach those who need them including those least likely to visit sexual health services.

When we were publishing Bottoming podcast (bottomingpodcast.com), it was so difficult to be recognised as indie/self funded amongst massive production comps. Even tho we were nominated for the likes of Great British Pod awards, it was swamped by the likes of Amazon/Spotify funded ones…
I don't know what else to say here except we're desperate. Abel is an LGBTQ refugee in south Sudan and an activist. He has an emergency - testicular torsion. He's in agony, and surgery is only available privately. If you've anything at all, please donate to his GoFundMe 🙏 gofund.me/f85a64e6

We're pleased to see that the Scottish Medicines Consortium approval of injectable cabotegravir (CAB-LA) for the prevention of HIV on the NHS in Scotland
This new option may help those facing barriers to using oral #PrEP
A significant step forward in #HIV prevention for people living in Scotland 🏴
PS. The coming years will surely look different – but only our joint action can help shape it.
While it is disheartening to have to justify the value of the work that we do as the conditions in which we do it become more challenging, we do not and will not stop our commitment to create a healthier future for all.
We at WHO work with Member States contributing to 5 million lives saved from communicable diseases and 6.5 million from non-communicable diseases EACH YEAR.
Supporting WHO can save 11.5 million lives EACH YEAR. This is what is at stake.
The work we do is often not visible - we work directly with countries, governments and ministries of health to deliver services based on the best science, to meet people and their communities where they are.
We at WHO are rapidly working to monitor the magnitude and impact of this situation closely.
Key activities include:
- Technical support to maintain essential services
- Data to measure impact + respond
- Engage w/affected communites
- Communication + supporting workforce
While a waiver for some of these changes has been issued, national programmes in many countries have been suddenly brought to a halt.
Over the past 2-3 weeks, services that meet people where they are globally have been disrupted due to major changes in the structure of foreign aid.
An incredibly challenging time at the World Health Organization as we actively respond to a complex crisis in which essential services that keep people alive —such as childhood vaccinations and daily HIV treatment — are at stake.
Ah, the millennial experience of “every time you get some measure of financial and career stability, the world decides to do something extraordinarily stupid again”
I had hoped anxiety attacks would at least burn off extra calories.
‘Dynamic situation’ is my new favourite euphemism for ‘shit show’
A very smart colleague just pointed out the grim truth that the U.S. leaving the WHO may ultimately be a win for the rest of the world. Why? Because without a vote, “the US can't block WHO actions like vaccine programs, disease surveillance, contraception, etc”. Man, that is daaaark, but accurate.
