I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be illegal..
It's an old pocket watch. It was down about 18" in an area I've been over before. I got a larger coil for my main detector over the winter, which detects deeper.
Finds from today's outing here in Maine.
Thanks! It's great to get back out there!
Cool button!
Late 1700s coat button
That was a deep one! Remnants of an old pocket watch. I'd guess early-mid 1800's based on other things I've found here.
Thanks! Yeah, it's very peaceful. I saw a few eagles in the sky, and a deer dart across the field.
Detected around a blueberry barren today for a few hours. Got a couple musket balls, a Model T or Model A valve stem cover, and a few other bits. Man, even after the winter the blueberry barrens still have some nice color.
Thats actually one of his better qualities..
Here we go! First keeper of the 2026 season! 1864 Indian Head Penny.
That's actually one of his better qualities.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy! I personally didn't know how huge the KKK was in Maine.
4/1/1919 Maine Governor Carl Milliken signed a law criminalizing the use of French in public schools, except in language classes. One of the most racist and culturally repressive acts in our nation’s history. A government-led campaign of forced assimilation targeting French Catholic immigrants.
Straight from the source, no filter! "Bigly covfefe windmills cause cancer covid will be gone by Easter they're eating the pets!!!!"
It was a joke Travis.
Oh, I'm sorry. I guess no one else is interested in Maine potato history? Lame..
3/27/1980:Hundreds of farmers and supporters blocked nine Maine-New Brunswick border crossings with trucks and rotten potatoes due to a 70% increase in cheaper Canadian imports. The blockade lasted 2 days until U.S. government agreed to establish a task force to address the farmers' grievances.
3/24/1958: Life magazine’s cover depicts sculptor Louise Nevelson of Rockland, Maine (1899-1988). The article reveals to the nation Nevelson’s “Moon Garden + One” exhibition at the Grand Central Moderns gallery in New York, which opened in January that year.
I'm all set up here for Maine Maple Sunday! Brave the snow and head to Goranson Farm 250 River Rd in Dresden. Come get some syrup!
Which is pretty crazy considering the size of the town. Some of them are tiny, only a few graves, and some require a trek into the woods. The Veterans take care of the flags at the 5 main cemeteries in Dresden for Memorial Day, but the historical society get the hard to get to ones.
I actually live across the river in Richmond. I know exactly where that cemetery is, and if your mom's family has any military members buried there I put a flag by their gravestone with the Dresden Historical Society several years in a row for memorial day.
Dresden has over 50 old cemeteries.
This coin with Charles II and Britannia in a big dress came all the way across the ocean before it was dropped in the 1700s in a field on Goranson Farm here in Dresden Maine. Come check it out in person this weekend at Maine Maple Sunday! 250 River Rd Dresden, ME 9am-4pm.
You do look strikingly similar to suspect #2 according to the extremely detailed sketches😂😂
3/18/1990 Two men dressed as police officers rang the night bell at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Once inside, they overpowered and tied up the security guards in the basement. Then seized 13 works of art worth over $500 million, making it the largest art theft in U.S. history.
