A rare pencil drawing concept art from StarCraft 1 showing a Zerg Hydralisk, Ultralisk, and Zergling. I have never found the original source, it has a bit of a frame with a drop shadow peeking into the corner that suggests it was maybe part of a magazine spread or something. I saved it from a website that no longer exists.
A high res full-color render of the 3D model used to create the sprites for the Zerg Scourge. A small, black and white version of this image exists in the game's manual, but to my knowledge only a few full-color ones were shared with a German games magazine/website interview, that also is no longer online.
Images of an unpainted prototype scale model kit of a Protoss Zealot, by Nucle/Academy. The company went out of business before putting this model into production. The model is not completely accurate to the game's 3D model Zealot, and in this images is standing too-upright, but it is far better than the Zealot action figure that exists.
Concept art orthographic views for a Protoss reaver for the StarCraft board game, posted by the artist to the conceptart.org forums before those died. The artist was not given any secret reference material of the original SC1 units, so for those he would draw a few different possible interpretations based on the sprites and submit them for licensor approval. For some of the newer units that appeared in StarCraft: Ghost, he was given reference of those to follow instead. So, this is not really SC1 art, more like officially licensed 'fan art,' but it is interesting to see, and again its original source is gone from the internet.
The media property where I do save everything related I can get my hands on is the original StarCraft. That was my big early experience with websites going down and previously-accessible artwork being completely gone from the internet. So I started saving everything, here are some random rare things
