A hearing has been scheduled for abuse survivors to deliver victim impact statements against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, Vermont. It's the second of two hearings scheduled by a bankruptcy judge after the diocese filed for Chapter 11 Oct 2024.

The cases of two men who allege they were sexually abused as children in Northern California by a now-deceased priest can proceed to trial, a federal judge ruled. The decision comes after more than 500 lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse.

Bill to end NDAs silencing abuse survivors moves forward after Morris accuser testifies
The bill, sponsored by Plano Rep. Jeff Leach, would stop a non-disclosure agreement from preventing a victim from talking about their abuse.
Cindy Clemishire testified in support of House Bill 748, which would make certain nondisclosure agreements in child sex abuse cases unenforceable. The bill was authored by State Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano.
