I’ve tried Resolve off and on over the years, I just never stuck with it because the gigs I work required Avid, Apple, or Adobe. I don’t have the bandwidth in my life to become proficient in a fourth NLE just for kicks. I’d rather read a book or take a nap. 🤣
30 down, 30 more to go?
Possibly. In the past year or so I've seen online rumblings of people fed up with the stale state of FCP (oh, the irony) testing out the Resolve waters, (and of course the ever-present Adobe hate).
Maybe this is the year? My money is on Resolve still being the Linux of the NLE world though.
I’m looking forward to the annual tradition of everyone being super impressed with DaVinci Resolve’s updates at NAB. Declaring that Avid, Adobe, and Apple need to watch out. Then promptly forgetting Resolve exists until NAB next year. #PostChat
The Oscars signed a 10yr deal to have AEG run the event and AEG owns LA Live and the Peacock Theater in DTLA. They aren’t going to host the show at a rival company’s venue.
Massive federal spending has "supercharged" surveillance, EFF’s Maddie Daly told @FedScoop.bsky.social. “DHS has been purchasing a sweeping array of technologies that can scan people’s faces, track cell phone activity and monitor immigrants and U.S. citizens alike.”

Having played Overwatch since almost day one, worked on Overwatch League for multiple seasons, and then drifted away from the game when it felt like it was becoming a hot mess, I’m very happy to see it starting to find its way again.
Is this good, bad, or indifferent?
IIRC, before CA clamped down on emissions the LA basin averaged 250-ish days a year where it was recommended to stay in doors due to air pollution. With current emission standards we have only a handful of alerts like that annually. Deaths from respiratory problems have also dropped significantly.
This is one of those areas where California can (and will) hold the line, simply due to how many cars get sold in this state.
I remember the smog as a kid, and I’m sure plenty of others do too. We’re not going back to that.
On the nose music choice, but also the only correct music choice.
A while back someone mentioned to me that Wall Street works on feelings, not facts, and ever since then it’s made a lot more sense to me.
The amount of, ‘it can’t happen here’ mindset I still run into is just baffling, IMO. Where we are now was painfully predictable during Trump vs Clinton in 2016. He sees himself as CEO of America, and R’s are more than happy to put their thumbs on the electoral scales. It’s a match made in hell.

On one hand, nothing after Phase 3 has been able to really
capture the magic of Phase 1-3. On the other hand, comic books recycling/ret-coning/undoing major events or characters has been happening for decades so it's on par with the source material.
Heads up everyone, it’s not just Minnesota. These fuckers are still doing their fascist bullshit across the nation.
I think Alpha House and Betas both came from that experiment. I thought those two were fun. Not amazing, but fun.
Now that the TikTok deal is done, we've lifted a few articles out of the paywall for today in an effort to see how we got here.
First, here's @laurenfeiner.bsky.social on the TikTok ban that kind of wasn't.
Remember when you travel in Germany, say, and you wonder, "How did they build Dauchau, here, in a town?"
This is how.

Generally speaking I want to like Peter Molyneux's games more than I actually end up liking them, but I'm still on board and optimistic about Masters of Albion.

This is an astonishing power in the hands of an agency that has proven, again and again, that it is willing to abuse its broad authorities and vast budget. This simply shouldn't be possible without a warrant and stringent guardrails. www.404media.co/inside-ices-...
