Daniel McConnell: This line of insinuation doesn’t stand up Business Post editor Daniel McConnell has defended his decision not to tell readers a contributor in the paper calling for Ireland to develop its “defence sector” works for a British arms consultancy.

“We do not publish exhaustive career histories alongside every piece,” said McConnell about an article calling for defence spending – written by a man who works for an arms consultancy that asks, “READY TO COMPETE MORE SERIOUSLY IN THE UK DEFENCE MARKET?”

Letter to Taoiseach requesting urgent action in light of the illegal war with Iran and global uncertainty inflicted on us all by Trump’s rogue administration.

The violence we're seeing in the Middle East is spiralling out of control.

We need to see an evacuation plan in place so that Irish citizens in the region, as well as Irish peacekeepers in Lebanon, can return home safely.

There is no time to waste.

With Israel continuing its genocide & blockading Gaza & bombing Iran and Lebanon, putting the lives of Irish peacekeepers in danger as well as thousands of citizens in the region, it’s inconceivable that the Ireland-Israel fixture would go ahead.

The Govt must support the FIA to boycott Israel

2 things happened simultaneously in Venezuela: the U.S. removed an authoritarian leader responsible for human rights abuses AND it violated international law by kidnapping a head of State.

Respecting and upholding international law in the face of global chaos has never been more important.

Grok is being used to create sexualised images of women and child abuse material which are posted on X.

So, why is the Department of Education still posting images of children to X?

If Government Departments are going to continue to use X, can they at least stop posting images of children?

Govt's failure to explicitly rule out joining President Trump's sinister Board of Peace is baffling.

Other EU and European countries have had no such difficulty declining.

Our govt needs to show similar backbone.

I spoke to survivors of sexual violence at Leinster House today.

Despite govt promises to reform the Criminal and Civil Law Bill 2026, survivors' counselling notes could still be used against them in court. This horrendous breach of trust could deter women from seeking deserved justice.

FFG have created a crisis of recruitment and retention due to 20 years of underinvestment in our Defence Forces.
Ireland is proud of the women and men who bravely serve humanitarian missions overseas.
It's crucial their pay and conditions reflect the incredible service they provide to our nation.

Disabled people are €1,400 worse off after the budget.

Some now can’t even afford to charge their mobility aids.

With huge budget surpluses available, refusing emergency support is cruel and unjustifiable.

I am relieved to hear that Heba, Kamran and Lewie, of the Filton 24, have ended their hunger strike.

I call on Taoiseach and Minister for Foreign Affairs to have the difficult conversation with British government about their treatment of Palestine Action activists, so this doesn't happen again.

Hundreds of thousands of vile sexualised non-consensual images of women and children have been created by Grok, X’s AI tool.

This isn't just horrifying – it's illegal.

The Govt response to this has been muted and confusing.

When will X be prosecuted?

How do they get away with this stuff? They’re either purposefully misleading, or just blatantly ignorant to the facts. Family reunification accounts for less than 1% of inward migration to Ireland. It just means a traumatised person gets to be with their spouse or child while they restart their life

Thank you to Samantha Trevaskis and Dr Yvonne Hartnett for visiting today to discuss the realities of living with PMDD and the vital research into this disorder. Looking forward to further advocacy work around PMDD awareness.

This woman Patricia Stephenson has my first preference vote on Friday. I knew this a few months ago when I first met her. I've done everything I can so far to get her elected standing up to be her campaign manager and it's been a fab journey. Vote 1 for Patricia on Friday #SocDems #GE24
