What do you mean it "doesn't actually work"? It certainly can read files, write a report or spreadsheet referencing said files.
What is the bar here?

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a man in business attire is disrobing and walking down a road away from a city, passing a sign that says “CITY LIMITS”. A narrative caption reads, “I left society behind.” Panel 2: it continues, “I became one with the meerkats.” The man is nude and wearing face and body paint and fake ears to look like a meerkat. He is posed next to a family of meerkats on a dirt mound. Panel 3: one of the meerkats is checking the mailbox outside their burrow, says “this came for you, bro” and hands the man an envelope. The man examines the envelope which reads “URGENT NOTICE FROM I.R.S.”
hello 👋 i have developed a new tool called blüuümpíi. blüuümpíi will convert every file on your hard drive to a .wav file without asking you, maximize your system volume, and play them on every bluetooth speaker you have ever connected to. if you offer feedback on blüuümpíi i will take legal action
if you want bluesky to succeed, you're going to have to come to terms with where we are at right now in the world. if you want atproto to succeed, you're going to have to come to terms with it as well. the only other option is to lose decades - again.
everyone that i have worked with passes my bar of quality. many of them exceed it! i wouldn't willingly work with them if they didnt. and that is particularly true of the folks who work at bluesky, which is why it's also so mind boggling to me to see the vitriol on display for their eng talent
i don't really know about other industries, but with software i have got to say that refusal to use ai at any place in development is acceptance of inability to compete. at the same time, refusal to maintain standards and quality through manual work is also acceptance of inability to compete.
Really cool stuff.
There were some things that were breaking my workflow in #GodotEngine, so I fixed them and made pull requests

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a green heron points to the ski excitedly while a space shuttle flies away. The heron says, “the humans are all leaving! Panel 2: the heron continues, “we can finally enjoy the unaltered beauty of the earth!” Panel 3: the heron stands smiling. Behind it a group of beavers wearing hard hats and safety gear are building a giant log structure. Two of them are looking at a blueprint, another in the back is using a chainsaw.
Have you vibe coded anything recently? We are interested in hearing from people without extensive coding experience who have made something cool. If that's you, please fill out this quick survey, and you might appear in a future WIRED article.

That's the overconfidence that comes from playing softball 😄
The interview transcript. Klein: "I take your point that, obviously, presidents of both parties for a long time have done deployment of U.S. forces and application of force without declarations of war. You get into this, like: What is a war, really?"
He immediately gives her an out after this. The point is to not limply retread the same ground but actually press the subject.
With no follow up. Remember that is what's at issue here. That's what you replied to.
That's not the point. It is journalistic malpractice to allow an interview to become a pulpit for dishonesty and falsehoods. Keeping the interview factual and newsworthy requires taking the interviewee to task on matters of basic reality
Yea, prove it is not regular.
He objects:
1. If / then dependencies and similar are grammatically optional
(but this really isn't always the case)
2. A FSM can produce a language consisting of arbitrary strings containing these dependencies (but only by virtue of accepting ANY arbitrary string)
I am not following this closely as I don't do short form, but what is his mistake?
A federal judge is weighing whether to hold U.S. Attorney Dan Rosen in contempt after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement failed to return detainees’ belongings, prompting a tense daylong court hearing in St. Paul.
In the view of British-American linguist Geoffrey K. Pullum, Syntactic Structures boldly claims that "it is impossible, not just difficult" for finite-state devices to generate all grammatical sentences of English, and then alludes to LSLT for the "rigorous proof" of this. But in reality, LSLT does not contain a valid, convincing proof dismissing finite-state devices
Even worse is when the source is published but absurd. This is from the criticsm section of Syntactic Structures: critic calls out Chomsky for failing to provide a proof, but the proof is so simple most undergrads would encounter it.
Super infuriating!

We've been watching it here on bsky but I think it's obvious "assistants" are the future
This is speculation on your part and it absolves the people responsible for a likely intentional decision to discount the lives of children. Very short cited AI dunk.
The US Justice Department withheld testimony that Donald Trump sexually abused a girl when she was 13 or 14 - according to a source who viewed unredacted Epstein files.
This is the worst scandal in US history and should be the biggest news story on the planet right now.

It's not hyperbolic. It's not conspiratorial. The presidential-controlled Justice Dept covering up victim testimony of alleged crimes against a child by the US president is the most atrocious scandal in US history.
There should be blanket media coverage & bipartisan demands for Trump's resignation.
