#catchatbookclub This sounds good; I'll look forward to reading a New Zealand mystery with a Mฤori angle. I enjoy authors from countries other than mine - big fan of Scottish, Scandi, Australian, etc cultures & atmospheres. eg: Denise Mina, Kate Atkinson, Evie Wyld, Emily Spurr, Stieg Larsson...๐Ÿ“–

Cover of โ€˜Better The Bloodโ€™ by Michael Bennett.

I also read the first Hana Westerman novel by Michael Bennett! Hana is a DSS on the Auckland police force and a woman of Mฤori heritage. Modern murders tie back to a historic incident, touching on how indigenous people were treated back then, as well as now. #CatChatBookClub

๐Ÿ“ฃ Time to meow about our theme for APRIL 2026 #CatChatBookClub
We were thrilled to receive a suggestion from dear pals @cathyandchester.bsky.social for us to read books associated with DAYS OF THE WEEK or MONTHS OF The YEAR or even a SEASON ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ“š in title, author name, storyline (1 of 2)

Cover of โ€˜Past Lyingโ€™ by Val McDermid.

Cover of โ€˜Past Lyingโ€™ by Val McDermid.

Iโ€™m continuing to read through Val McDermidโ€™s DCI Karen Pirie novels; โ€˜Past Lyingโ€™ is my fav so far! The covid lockdown setting adds to the complexity of investigating the teamโ€™s historic case, as well as the subplots and personal impacts. #CatChatBookClub

Simon is a black and white cat. He is inside a cat tree that looks like a red post box. He is looking at a book. The book he is looking at is The Power of Meow by David Michie.

3rd Dalai Lama cat book.

This one was helpful for me in thinking of Jude ๐ŸŒˆ
Right book, right time, what I needed.

I wanted it for Jan theme, but had to wait my turn from the library.

This guy can redo parts of life twice. There are rules about love & death like the genie in the lamp from Aladdin. Another excellent Mitch Albom. #catchatbookclub

It was a lovely setting. Mumโ€™s grandad was born & raised in Wales. Mum has never visited. Sheโ€™s even more determined to go there now! #catchatbookclub

#CatChatBookClub as I'm still on the library waiting list for this one, I reread another, older, also atmospheric novel The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon.

For this monthโ€™s theme, Mum read โ€œLove Untoldโ€ recommended on Twitter at last monthโ€™s #CatChatBookClub & she absolutely LOVED it. The plot, themes, setting & characters were superb. For a heartwarming story which spans 4 generations of wonderful women, look no further.
