the best flavour from my garden this year, by a long way, is vietnamese coriander, a wonderful long and complex flavour. the best flavour from the sea is roast head and collar of bass, what a combination!
very stormy looking out here atm.... hope the fish don't mind
After noticing recently that I hadn't seen a house martin in all the time I've been back in the UK - they were numerous when I was young - I'm very pleased to have just seen two.
made a little cactus garden for the kitchen window sill
Now that Pocket is gone what are people using instead? Any recommendations?
just applying for a job and on the preferred pronoun options it had around ten I have never heard used in the wild, but not 'man', as in 'man's applying for the job though still' which I hear on a daily basis...
Is that whole ludicrous monocle thing with Robert de Saint-Loup a very silly pun that he's 'sans loupe'? #Proust
just made butter for the first time ever - most surprised by just how quick and easy it is
so much wild garlic out at our usual spot - flower buds just coming up in the first flush and a huge amount more just an inch tall at the second
My wife said to me the other day that my photos sometimes look like I just point the camera at something and take a picture. I don't think she meant it as a compliment, but at the same time, some of the time, for me that is the point - simplicity, spontaneity and naivety can also be a method.

Finally after about 30 years of searching for a copy of Ronald Blythe's The Visitors I have been able to reread The Right Day to Kill a Pike. For some reason that story had been lodged in my mind since reading it in primary school. Thank you Internet Archive :)
a very nice surprise just now - hard copy of a Japanese magazine featuring project that I shot in Shenyang for IIA
Always love to see work in print
another job on the list is to go through all of these old notebooks and see if they contain anything worthwhile at all...
also been going through phone photos from Shanghai to suplement a series that I shot on LF there - one thing is abundantly clear: there is nothing about shooting on large format that guarantees better photographs and nothing that inherently prevents phone photos from being great.
finished our renovations and moving back i so taking stuff out of storage - just discovered all of these underveloped films from lord knows when...
if you're a time traveller and want to win in tonight's meat raffle here, these are not your lucky numbers ๐น
starting to look at these about the cheeky foxes of Eastney who come and try to steal my bait when I'm fishing. Identifying themes, picking favourites, chopping the dead wood...
