Been a long time coming, but after ~4 years living with my in-laws, myself and Laura have gone sale agreed on a house!

All going smoothly so far, let's hope it stays that way 🎉

I'm hopeful that Hannah and her family will find respite in having her at home while she continues her recovery ❤️

Some might call this a chilling, and despicable, effort to undermine media freedom in this country...

Ah, cheers Joe!
My mam was a regular donor while she could, so I'm happy to take up the mantle now.

The party (steering committee) leapt to take a position without wider consultation with party or members or waiting to see what the actual wording of the referendum would be.
Basic stuff but was very disappointing and then led to many members privately not supporting the referendum.

US military out of Shannon!

Ireland facilitates their imperialist aims of the US with this arrangement.

Direct action like this is incredibly brave from whoever acted today.

I've put in a remote working request but we have to give 8 weeks notice. Which is mad considering I already do 3 days a week at home.

Not to incite a panic but I'm starting to get texts that Gort town has run out of diesel...

Hey, I don't disagree at all there. I'm actually feeling quite disillusioned with the current party strategies, but that's for another day.

They were damned if they did and damned if they didn't turn up to the protests here I feel. Criticisms coming from the left to attend and right for being there

It's important for leftists to engage with protests and with the working class present there.
Whilst it was pretty apparent the right and far right had ties to the protest, complete disengagement isn't a winnable strategy to get people onside
Unfortunately this group had their minds made up already

Sounds like a bit of a gouger!

Unless driving a crazily inefficient jeep, you'd easily use less than a few litres of fuel whilst on a driving lesson.

An extra €1-€2 in fuel costs maximum compared to a few weeks ago?
Bit cheeky!

Private health insurance providers are just another inefficiency in the healthcare system.

We do not need them to provide healthcare. They don't provide healthcare anyways.

They serve as a middle management money sponge offering less to patients each year whilst skimming more off the top.

They were well able to act on water meter protestors and pro Palestine marches which had thousands in attendance.

There are sufficient Gardaí to move them from the likes of O'Connell St or prevent them blocking the bus depot in Galway.

The government shouldn't be giving the Gardaí orders, if so!

A protestor who blocked the port protesting the genocide in Gaza had his wrist broken when thrown to the ground by Gardaí.

I've been shoved and threatened for daring to get close to shutting down the access road to Shannon Airport.

It's amazing how different the Gardaí's response is here...

- 17,000 officially homeless, likely up to 35,000; precluded from focus on work, education

- Effects of underinvested housing, health and infrastructure also eating up disposable income, consumer confidence

- Austerity, corporate welfare funnelling wealth upwards - at scale

I've checked my Irish Media Protest Manual and it says that if you trap people in their cars over a period of time then you are falsely imprisoning them and you should be charged and sent to prison

We do not "need" landlords. What we need is adequate social and affordable housing builds for people to live in secure environments.

Landlords are just an inefficiency! An extra step/person/siphon in the provision of a home for people.

Appealing to the FG base but indicative of their disconnect.

This is absolute madness.

No. We need less private landlords, ideally none.

It doesn't matter how you slice it, once-off pension, multi-property business, investment funds. None.

Housing should be a right, a public need, not an investment opportunity.

FG/FF are the reason we are in this mess.
