This seems really strange and poorly thought out! A ~$700,000 salary cap hit on the basis of not looking bad, without much benefit at all to the team, feels like it's just going to manufacture a lot of very bad situations

Hi Richard, still very confused - what is the mechanism that makes a team do this, when presumably they could just let the rookie scale play out and re-sign in RFA?

I love Manic Street Preachers, and that album was my introduction, but it's really the only one they made that sounds like that. Great, great band and incredible album though.
Even if we take the table improvement as real and at face value, it seems really, really concerning that you improved so much off the back of chatgpt offering seemingly very basic ideas. What were you doing before now? You've been coaching for 20 years, you never looked into a back 5???
'Groupthink' doesn't mean a co-ordinated effort, and it feels this tendency to characterise dissatisfaction with - however valid - the latest chapter of 7 years of Giannis leaving talk to the neglect of the basketball teams basketball as conspiracy theory is stopping you getting the point
Last paragraph tells on yourself.
Karl Anthony Towns is a very good player being paid like a top-5 player. Its a massive downgrade. It's a bad trade you tell yourself is fine if you don't really like Giannis, if you imagine a scenario where the bucks have no leverage, and if you're very high on KAT
'some (not a lot)' is crazy work because it seems like the suggestion is that there isn't a wide, wide gulf between the two. And whenever you're using months to describe a gap in age the gap in age isn't relevant.
Like I get the concept that this is trying to win over reform voters but if reform voters hate one thing more than immigrants it's being required to fill out forms online by the government for no reason. Who likes this!?
It's so funny because it's the least popular government in the UK that I can remember and their policy goals seem to be to find ways to piss everyone off. Like the anti-immigration stuff in this is evil, but superficially asking everyone to get an digital ID is just going to annoy people
Or it could be the typical right winger thing of having zero awareness and a proclivity for inventing conspiracies against themselves
Jordan Horston (would have changed this season) came in as a late first round pick and despite physical struggles was put into a role that challenged her on offense and let her flourish on defense. That second season she still got given the trust she earned and took a huge step.
Dom had a lot of work to do to be a WNBA player, and was making a lot of mistakes that set the team back. That's fine, she's 19 years old and was adapting. By the end of the season she really got there; a huge step in addressing frequent issues with fouling.
The defense - aside from this last year where they did underperform despite finishing third - was always strong and creative.
The growth we saw in Dom this season doesn't happen without Noey; it's not just throwing them out there and letting them play however they like with a group of vets.
It probably was time for Noelle Quinn to move on, but I would like her to get the credit she's earned as head coach. They really were so, so close to a championship that first season despite having to take over part way. They were never, ever, ever comfortable for opposing teams to play.
I think she had a great record of development considering the strides Dom made over a single season and where she's positioned to be next year. I know the 2nd overall pick has assumptions but she was a teenager, and from her first appearance had so much to learn. Also Horston flourished under Noelle
He's a teenager! This stuff takes time! It's fine if you don't like the signing, but I don't think it was supposed to be instant impact and I also don't think it's a signing directed by Hurzeler.
Sorry not 38 points, 48 points. "Only" 13 points better off.
We went from 38 points on a sharp downward trajectory to 61 points, one off the club record despite the most injured squad in the PL, from the second De Zerbi season to Hurzeler.
we lost you'd say it was bizarre and naive. The best chances of the second half came after those subs. Spurs are a really good side, they're sitting 2nd in the league. We drew off an unfortunate deflection into an own goal. Can you all just relax for goodness sake.
There wasn't anything baffling about the subs (even though I wouldn't have taken off Baleba), you just call them shit subs if we lose and great subs if we win. At 75 minutes with a goal lead being bossed about the pitch it's pretty reasonable to play more defensively. If he put on Tommy Watson and
The new front three had something like 41 non-penalty goals on 24 npXg last season and I know players are more than those two numbers but it did feel a little spooky
Maybe they've just backwards engineered the historical high infant mortality -> high birth rate trend
i tried to imagine a wnba athlete as boastfully, indulgently, and wholly fucking dumb as michael porter jr
Finally, after way too many years, got around to playing the Tamriel Rebuilt mod for Morrowind and it's absolutely gorgeous
Some people said he was on like 15k a week, then after the transfer it turned out (according to Romano) to be more like 60k. It'll be the same thing again. Someone pulls a number out of nowhere, rival supporters uncritically accept it because it's emotionally convenient
This was the article that made me play that game! I really miss that era of games writing.
Just in case anyone was curious about whether the most predictable outcome of the UK's dumbass online safety act would happen; yes. The dodgy sites are not checking. The safer ones are.
Or, on the other side, looking for bad politics to justify not liking someone. Maybe they're not -phobic, maybe they just remind you of a bully you had at school
I think the argument that this doesn't help, or fractionally impedes, the Blazers from winning a championship is reasonable. But organised sports doesn't exist just so someone can win it. Similar (although much lower moral stakes) to how my objection to KPJ on the Bucks isn't about wins
