My mom’s family is generally quite short though. Like when her grandpa met my dad for the first time, he shook his head and was like “Hmm… too bad he’s so tall” 🤣🤣🤣

V similar here, dad is 6’3”(!), mom is 5’5”, I’m … (sad jurassic park music meme) 5’3.”. Where did all the height go

I also have this issue - like I’ve been doing this for 10 years now too and I can find opportunities (although it’s still difficult) … but I also do speaking/mentorship for young devs, and it’s hard to know how to advise them here

I kept telling him, “if this is something you enjoy you should share it with her, maybe she’ll want to know more!” But he still would only play when she was gone :(((

Yes!! I used to be on an amateur Overwatch team (lol) and our off tank player was an incredible (like a top 50 global ranked I think) DVA player. He was engaged and never told his fiancée he even played games bc it was too embarrassing (??!). I kept being like dude wtf

trying to do little exercises each night. watched a really frustrating tutorial and discovered that there's always cleaner ways of doing things. when in doubt, redo it. a lot can be solved with bevels in the right order.

Don't know you but randomly saw this and donated a bit - I recently had a big health scare with my cat and it was so stressful, so I want to help people who are going through this!

Also, I think it's helpful to understand textiles if you're going to make 3D versions of them! For example, here's a scarf I made for Peridot a while back - I handmade the knit texture so it'd look like an actual chunky knit scarf, not just like, someone's idea of a generic scarf

*I think sewing and 3D modeling actually have ton in common vis a vis 2D (fabric or texture) -> 3D (garment or model), by way of UVing or sewing together!! These processes really inform each other

A short woman (me!) with pale olive-toned skin stands against a pretty tiled teal wall. I’m wearing blue linen trousers, a brown belt, and a white button-up shirt with unusual seam details.

#WhatAGameDevLooksLike can look like this! About to hit 10 years in the industry as a 3D artist; I also love to sew* (I made both things I’m wearing in this picture!) and collect antique/vintage treasures.

Identification of Silver Marks - Hunt Vintage When you buy rare or antique silver pieces, it is important to know that the hallmarks are designed to ensure the age and provenance of each piece.

The letter is I think a lowercase gothic “b” or “h”, but this letter corresponds with a specific year that you can look up. Every year since 1773-now gets its own letter in a different font! The “b” or “h” in this font means either 1876 or 1882, respectively. (Or if it’s a “q”, then 1890)

The lion is a “lion passant” meaning it’s high purity silver assessed by an assay office. There’s different lion designs depending on the date of manufacture but it’s always a lion.

The anchor is the mark of Birmingham assay office, so made in Birmingham

Right!? It looks like something AI would try to do but fail at in terms of accuracy, due to not actually knowing how woodworking works

(This is at the white elephant sale in Oakland if anyone in the bay is interested. It’s $400 which is a lot but seemed reasonable for such a cool piece)
