It’s been a day. Here’s a two headed cat and a honeybee visiting my basil flowers.

Four paths within the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. All of these would be lovely in a game world with some modifications to make them tileable. In particular I love how the bridge was built in harmony with the large stone instead of removing it.

“Her husband, Montgomery J. "Monty" Illingworth, was later convicted of the murder. He served nine years in prison until he was paroled in 1951.”

The corpse was completely preserved by the near-freezing lake temperature. Her skin had turned into a substance described as "ivory soap," which was caused by minerals in the lake water interacting with Illingworth's body fat in a process called saponification.

It also has a sad history, from Wikipedia:

“ in 1937, a waitress named Hallie Illingworth went missing and was found three years later by local fishermen. She was apparently weighted down, and over time her restraints had decayed, allowing her corpse to float to the surface.”

This is Lake Crescent. It’s a glacier-carved lake that’s unbelievably clear and blue due to low levels of nitrogen, which inhibits algae. It’s 624 feet deep, 12 miles long, contains .5 cubic miles of fresh water, and has sheer underwater rock cliffs in many places.

Beautiful. No idea if these are a related species, but I saw them by the side of the road while taking a walk the other day. They look similar to me (not the blackberries flowering behind them, obv).

As a world builder, I find inspiration everywhere and always have my camera ready!

I take a lot of “ground texture” photos - there are so many tiny details. It’s fun to imagine how to translate these to a game in a way that retains enough of the detail to be interesting and beautiful but not busy.
