This is what a sustainable forestry industry offers for regional economies, not just in BC, but also here in Australia and in many other parts of the world.
That both NOPSEMA and the NT EPA are approving Barossa without requiring Santos to repair this facility shows how much governments in Australia prioritise the fossil fuel sector's interests over worsening climate change.
Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas - 80 times stronger than CO2 over the first 20 years. So this leak has possibly caused carbon pollution equal to about 1.8m tonnes.
Line graph time series of global ocean heat content for the 0-2000 m layer for 3 year averages, yearly averages, and five years averages from the late 1950s to 2025. There is a long-term warming trend. The baseline is 1955-2006 for the zero reference to calculate the anomalies.
Meanwhile, back in reality, global ocean heat content just updated through June 2025 and set a new record high. Time to wake up!

Hi Minister @tonyburkemp.bsky.social, why is the govt appointed Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism (on a 6-figure taxpayer-funded salary no less) missing in action in the face of mass antisemitic activity in our cities & towns❓
Surely this is Envoy Segal's time to step up & speak out❓
Co-director @dacemoglumit.bsky.social explains why the centralized nature of the social media ecosystem, which puts an enormous amount of power in the hands of a few platforms, is a threat to democracy — and why AI may be headed in the same direction.
Every country is warming.
Every country is experiencing more extreme weather events because of climate change, mainly caused by burning fossil fuels. www.ShowYourStripes.info
Time to #ShowYourStripes and start climate conversations to prompt actions to reduce emissions, personally & collectively.
AOC: Being taken is wrong, it is illegal, it is a violation of his First Amendment rights, it is an affront to every American, and we will not allow—and will continue to resist—the politicization and the continued political persecution that ICE is engaged in.

Great news for Labor! These two will help keep the Libs out of government for a decade!
Interesting to see the historical trend away from the traditional two-party dominance, with the electorate increasingly voting for minor parties and independants.
The Greens are in a strong position in the new Parliament, despite Adam Bandt losing his seat of Melbourne, due to Liberal and One Nation voters giving their preferences to Labor.
Australia’s renewable building mojo is back – but lots of new capacity is lost to physical and financial constraints. AEMO sheds light on the shift in thinking needed to reduce this trend
Strong comments from a fmr Lib minister on Sky After Dark’s impact — attacking “puritanical litmus test Liberals”.
On Sunday, Sky host Rita Panahi demanded the party “address the bedwetters, quislings, the enemy within”.

Perhaps Tim Wilson can tell us how much the Liberal Party spent on his campaign, and how big were the cheques that Advance, Australians for Prosperity and other Atlas and Liberal-aligned organisations cashed on his behalf to shoehorn him back into Goldstein?

Thank you we need more pressure..make sure every media outlet gets a copy ...Palestinians are running out of time and the world is silent.
The Jewish Council calls on the re-elected Albanese government to immediately sanction Israel and comply with our obligations under the Genocide Convention and international law. This includes cutting all economic, military and diplomatic ties with Israel.

Great to see that even conservative media such as FT speaking out against Israel's atrocities against the Palestinians.
I think that gives the Greens a balance of power in the Senate (unless Labor chooses to pander to the Coalition)
Somehow The Greens need to better connect with those Australians who are concerned about these issues and who see that Labor is selling us short in these important areas.
It is always a hard call as to whether to hold out for a better deal, or to meekly support a patently inadequate solution - be that on carbon emissions or housing.
Or is it because The Greens are failing to connect with their natural constituancies - youth; environmentally concerned farmers; seniors; those on low incomes, etc?
It is disappointing that after almost 40years, The Greens still only command only 12.4% of first preference votes in the House of Reps (2022 election).
Is this because Australians don't care enough about ecological sustainability, grass-roots democracy, social justice, and peace and non-violence?
