First trip to Puget Sound did not disappoint! GBHE are a joy to try and photograph.

Had fun looking for owls last night.
Ah, Sierras, I see!
Incredible! What california hills have you seen them in?
A Wild Turkey in the foreground with more turkeys behind eating in a shadowy field. Om-1ii zuiko 300 f/4
Here’s my turkey for turkey week. Wishing all these birds and being peace and comfort.
I stopped eating bird 29 years ago, no regrets. #birding #wildlife 🪶📸
Yes, I am motived to photograph them in part because they are vulnerable and irreplaceable. Where I live there are land trusts that are dedicated to habitat. Politically, these are often pitted against “affordable housing”.
So lucky! How wonderful!
Great series!
It came out beautifully, you can be very proud of that one.
Field with burrowing owl standing in front of a culvert it has chosen as its burrow, looking at me. Om-1 zuiko 150-400
Both good luck and good fortune came together and for the first time in four years, burrowing owls have been spotted again at the wetlands park/former landfill. I was able to see (my first!) one today from quite a distance. 🪶🦉📸 #birding #owl #wildlife #omsystem
So dreamy!
Yes, I just recently learned that. I found some feathers under my birdfeeder and looked it up and saw that that is more likely the result of a hawk than a cat when the feathers are left behind.
Red shouldered hawk looking at me from a branch with hills in the background. Om-1ii zuiko 300 mc-14
There is a red shouldered hawk, rain or shine, out on a powerline on a busy street. I saw him perched there in the pouring rain this week and am inspired by the resolve and spirit. 🪶📸 #birding #wildlife #photography #omsystem
Wow! How incredible! And great capture!
Fantastic!
Wow, gorgeous! What a creature!
a lovely completely out of focus sparrow looking right at me from the right the edge of a branch with great contrasty lighting.
#photofailfriday #blurd 🪶📸 not sure what I will do with my sparrow photo collection, but I love to snap them and missed ones like these still pain me 🤦♀️🤷🏻♀️😰
Western meadowlark on the ground in a sunny meadow looking in the distance. Shot on om-1ii zuiko 300 f/4 mc-14
A little sunshine from this Western Meadowlark I saw last week on a (currently) very rainy day. The grasses make for the dreamiest backgrounds. 🪶📸 #wildlife #birding #microfourthirds #omsystem
Wow! Beautiful and inspiring to keep going with purpose today!
Wow, real circle of life moment!!
Great light. Very nice!
This was very lucky. He had just captured a snake and flew into a tree just behind me. He is eating the snake pinned behind the branch above me, but because of the angle of the branch and my angle, looks like we are eye level. They are just magic. The colors and spots on them are marvelous.
So much of birding is unexpected treasure and surprising finds. So fun and yes, quite lucky that day.
Very special bird and snap!
They are! They might be my favorite. If there were ever a bird to help you on a magical quest, wouldn’t they be it?
An American Kestrel sitting on fence wire surround by fields in California. Photo taken on an om-1 zuiko 300 f/4 + mc-14
Glad I have some sunny photos to edit before we get rivers of rain. The kestrel is a jewel and I saw at least 7 of them on this walk through fields this weekend. 🪶 📸#birding #californiabirds #birds #omsystem #wildlife #photography

A quick snap turned into a happy surprise at my first meeting with a California Towhee. A real bird’s eye view! 🪶 📸 #omsystem #microfourthirds #zuiko #wildlife #california #sonoma
I am new here- do I subscribe and then block everyone on the list?
They are magic. I hope to do justice someday to their incredible spots and colors. I spend time dreaming of far-off places but flickers are so exotic, they make me feel like I live in a far-off place, too.
