23 hours left! I just backed On Spec 2026 on @kickstarter.com because Canada has a rich and often unsung population of #SFF writers in its community, who deserve to have their work celebrated, too. @onspecmag.bsky.social

I’m delighted to share that I have been invited by BookNet Canada’s Tech Forum to present on managing disruption in online book marketing channels during highly-volatile periods of upheaval — both in social and advertising spaces.
I would love to see you all there! 💪

I’ll be running a workshop with the lovely folks at Books BC on March 12, discussing best practices for market-driven, SEO/AEO-rich book descriptions. It’s open to non-members, so if this is a topic you have burning questions about, we’d love to see you there!

As a professional book marketer, I see these feelings enough to know they are common. What I can tell you is to remember that every book has multiple audiences, multiple entry points, and multiple ways it can break through. Stay focused, learn to pivot when necessary, and enjoy the moment! 💫
Recall that Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered not long ago by a fake cop who showed up at their door looking like this guy

You know me I don't share fundraisers unless I can tell you I trust them with my whole heart and my own wallet. This one gets protective gear to legal observers in Minneapolis / Saint Paul

Loving this retrospective on the evolution of book industry ads — a unique and compelling part of the industry's ephemera. Thanks for putting it together, @quillandquire.bsky.social!

One of the tactics I use is having students track changes on an AI output for their final. Well, I can’t control how people feel about AI, I can force them to actively try and wrestle with trying to improve what is quickly becoming the default. It’s been interesting to see what they come up with.
About as fun a book you could read this summer. Who doesn't love a little stranger-than-fiction-becomes-fiction-anyway!?
Got the professional images of my recent painting ‘Forget Me Not’ 26x32” acrylic on canvas, today. So much better than my quick studio shot. This piece is still available on my shop.

Reading Triolo’s “The Way Around” has been a treasure: like sitting with my dad again, listening to the way he could draw connections between two disparate but ultimately powerfully attuned things.
Triolo’s writing is a force, deeply immersive and rich. An immaculate offering.

Kenyan #journalist Alvin Kaunda was reporting live from Nairobi when a curious baby #elephant, Kindani, decided to join the broadcast. The playful elephant stuck her trunk in Alvin's mouth, making for a hilarious moment! A joyful reminder of wildlife's charm and the work of the Sheldrick Trust!
obviously Bukele has given his spin, but if a single senator can spring Kilmar for margaritas, then it has become exceptionally awkward for the President and his entire executive branch to insist there's nothing they can do to get him back to the US.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.
Carney’s housing pitch sounds bold—but key gaps remain: no timelines, no tenant safeguards, no limits on financialization. Cathy Crowe unpacks what’s missing. #canpoli
