tweet: "the assisted dying bill, like any piece of legislation, can only be considered in the context of present material conditions. a culture where the public broadcaster happily highlights cost savings from killing people is a fundamentally unsafe place for these powers to be granted."

And also my partner has recently just started being able to tolerate having her mum take over some of the simpler care duties, which is huge as I've been exclusively doing all of her direct care for almost 2 years now. So she's starting to come stay with us occasionally to help out!

Ain't that the truth! Yeah, thankfully we moved in spring to be closer to our families, and so my parents are nearby to help with some of the practical stuff like picking up groceries, which is super helpful because I can't really leave the house because of the care responsibilities.

They're not totally terrible at the moment thanks. Today was kinda rough but my partner has seen some small improvements recently. Tiny in the grand scheme but monumental for her. We had a bunch of snow here Monday and she managed to tolerate watching it out the window from her bed for a while.

Naur not the technical issues. This digital world is really not kind to old people. Godspeed with helping him there 🫡 And that's great re: your improvement - sounds like the right approach for sure though I can only imagine how frustrating it is to have to be so patient and diligent all the time!

It's an honour. Hope your dad's doing ok, given... everything. And you too! I was really happy to read about your recent improvement, hope that's still the case and long may it continue if so!

Thank you for imparting your hard-earned wisdom, sage Kira! This really resonated. Hell I nearly didnt send this reply (ew earnestness) but like...I'm just a guy scrolling on his phone while biting his already shredded nails. Who gives a fuck?

Same, I genuinely wouldn't have any idea it was even a thing were it not for all the complaints about how much it sucks from other people

Maeve Boothby O’Neill died because of a discredited view of ME. How was this allowed to happen? | George Monbiot Chronic fatigue syndrome is as physiological as a broken leg. We must learn all we can from this tragic case, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

This story is one of the most disturbing I've ever covered. It's about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
