I subscribe to Slate. But I’m wondering. Does 50% of the content need to be advice columns? Do they need to constantly change article titles using old style clickbate wording? Do articles have to feel like desperate independent writers pitching dumb ideas that feel vaguely provocative? #slate

Donald Trump could write the book on the effective diplomatic negotiations he’s carried out in office.
But someone already did
Markwayne Mullin will perhaps be surprised to learn that his job description requires him to have regular sex with Corey Lewandowski
The ICE airport plan is more serious than many realize. Trump is starting to use them as a militia without even a strong immigration related fig leaf
Et tu, Cesar?
Normally one can feel proud of an accurate prediction, but predicting that the US administration would be stupid, shortsighted and dishonest about Iran is like predicting that an unleashed dog will eagerly chase after a squirrel
The administration became worried that their blunders have dramatically raised oil and gas prices. And their response has been to [checks notes] begin bombing the main centre for Iranian oil exports. True master strategists in action
I’ve just finished Memory of Light! It’s been such an amazing journey. Now I REALLY want to talk about the books, but I don’t want to spoil anyone. Is there a thread or protocol for discussions of the whole series? #WOTskies #WheelofTime #WOTBookSpoilers
Made it back to London
I’ve crossed the causeway and am now in Saudi Arabia
View from hotel window in Manama Bahrain. Smoke is drifting across the sky
I’m in Bahrain on a work trip. There has been an Iranian rocket attack on the US base here.
I can hear periodic booms, which are probably the original impacts and possibly also anti-rocket defences.
The view from my window is a bit more interesting than normal.

I’ve sensed this across multiple areas. Less drinking, less binge eating, and a generally greater sense of not being at the mercy of my own whims…until the evenings when the Elvanse wears off
The important thing is not to offend your fellow TERF about minor issues like executing people in the streets, when so VERY many CIS women have been raped and murdered by rampaging trans people in bathrooms and…er…swimming ponds
We are rapidly reaching the point where the question of whether US military officers should disobey illegal orders will no longer be theoretical
Nehls: I would like to quickly address the police officers from January 6th. And I can tell you that the fault does not lie with Donald Trump. It lies with the US capitol leadership team.

To be fair, I was awarded neither the Medal of Honor nor the Victoria Cross, so I’ve been feeling much better about my cowardice
It’s not often that one gets to use language like this in discussions of trade and tariff policy, but Europe needs to fire the damn bazooka
If only Denmark could join some sort of military alliance that would agree to jointly defend their territory against…oh, wait
The anti-ICE protesters in MN and other places should start flying “Don’t Tread On Me” flags. That will really piss off the fascist goons, who think they’re are resistance patriots but are actually the personification of authoritarian government oppression
This makes me scared for my autistic family members and friends. No one is safe
Worth every second
I was fortunate that I could afford a private autism diagnosis for my daughter and adhd diagnosis for myself. I cannot imagine what we would have done given the CAMHS and NHS waitlists. And the overdiagnosis argument drives me mad
