On the spectrum and working in IT?
We think that especially in IT, research is still too often done about you rather than with you.

Wir finden: Gerade in der IT wird leider noch zu oft über euch geforscht statt mit euch.
Wir wollen wissen, was euch in euren IT-Jobs interessiert und bewegt.

🏆 Saarbrücken now houses 11 ACM Fellows — about 1/3 of all ACM Fellows in Germany — highest of any location nationwide. This year, only 3 new Fellows in Germany were named, and Saarland University software engineering professor Sven Apel was one!

Congrats, Prof. Apel! 👏

🤖 Using AI while coding? Think again.

🖥️ A study conducted by Prof. Dr @svenapel.bsky.social and his team shows that, compared to human partners, developers working with AI assistants approach code less critically and experience less knowledge transfer.

Experiments in SE research often require a contrast condition or baseline (e.g., contrasting reading code with problem solving or reading prose). What is the influence of the choice of baseline on the actual results? See our TOSEM paper for answers:
