I've been protesting at the Surprise, AZ protests whenever I'm able to make it. This little boy made me stop in my tracks. His mom said it was okay to take his picture. She then flipped the sign over so I could see the other side. He was probably five years old...

DHS bought a huge warehouse 2.8 miles from our house in Surprise, AZ. Besides protesting, what can our city do? One city council member fell asleep listening to citizens testify against ICE coming. The mayor doesn't care either way. Who can we boycott? What else can we do??

This is concerning, that a rep feels they must post this. A lot in our coalition has felt the same way and worried about it, but didn’t think we’d be here publicly.

Any federal activity within our boundaries must recognize and respect our tribal sovereignty, treaty obligations, and established jurisdictional boundaries. Any ICE presence or activity within our lands is not authorized, not welcome, and will be addressed. Unauthorized personnel will be escorted off our lands.

This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota:
