Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:

- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

But also happy no kings, it’s a great way to start learning and getting involved in civil disobedience. If you see someone from General Strike US - definitely chat with them and sign up for a chapter !!

When you’ve moved from the “rally stage” of civil disobedience to the “creation of community system that will still be here when deliberate collective action happens” stage

Catch me resisting by fostering intergenerational community, growing my own food, and challenging prohibition daily.

Why I may ‘hire’ AI instead of a graduate student “It can competently perform a lot of the work I need immediately,” this professor writes

Some people should never have access to students.

“AI requires no ramp-ups, no meetings, and absolutely no emotional support…The issue is not whether my students are valuable. In long run, they are invaluable. The issue is that their value emerges slowly, whereas AI delivers immediate returns.”

Having a moment today while working realizing that I’m literally doing exactly what I wanted to do since deciding to get into psychedelic/serotonergic research.

A truly amazing feeling.

Today’s wtf is in my fridge for dinner episode:

Three leftover Italian sausages removed from casing and cooked with orange bell pepper, a quarter jalapeño, corn, and garlic. Add tomato paste, cauliflower gnocchi and finish with 2 tbsp cream cheese to make it a sauce.

Shocked at how good this was!

We really take for granted the ability to just go to the store and buy the products we need.

Making hygiene kits is a small thing I can do with my privilege and it’s 100% worth the loss of 100 bucks that i would have likely spent on beer and Panera.

Join your local mutual aid group or start one.

Making first aid / hygiene kits for a mutual aid event this weekend and it’s truly astonishing that I can afford to make these kits with decent products on a 55k salary meanwhile billionaires continuously hoard wealth and pass policies that don’t allow people to afford toothpaste and tampons.
