Thank you so much!!!! Was yours the Tennessee one?! Loved it!!! I am so excited to get the print copy. I had learned about GeoHipster because a colleague gifted a copy in 2023 and have enjoyed it since!

I read in the news that the Pack Fire in California has burned over 3,000 acres since Thursday. Sadly fitting for today's theme!

Since I'm learning MapLibre, I decided to re-create the map I saw using open-source tools!

Nice!! I’d like to learn R at some point!! I just realized I had a typo so I’ll be reposting this 🙈

Yes and no! I made the chart originally in Google Sheets/Datawrapper. I then decided to draw the bars manually with rectangles in the print layout to change the style a bit, and just because I, for some reason, wanted all of the final design to be in QGIS for this one 🤷‍♀️😄

Javier Jiménez Shaw gave a great talk yesterday at #FOSS4Ge called “Mercator is your friend,” in defense of cartographers’ most hated map projection. Today, Mercator is also my grocery store. 😆😁

Ah, what a week- I love being around fellow map nerds! 🗺️🧭🌍🛰️

Had a great convo yesterday at #FOSS4GEurope about how newcomers can start contributing to open source: it’s all about fixing the bugs that are bothering you in the libraries or tools you already use, or adding features you wish they had! I really liked that perspective 🙂
