A hand made cosplay of Emet-Selch sits on a dressform. It is mostly complete, but a few armor pieces have not been added due to this being just a test.
Well, I still have hand sewing ahead of me, a bunch of snaps, and praying my armor cooperates with my new plan, but the ugly, made up nonsense is all hidden now lol
I don't have time to take in the coat like it needs, so I'm ironically adding hip pads to help the bottom hang how it should.
The amount of layers in this outfit is astounding.

Nothing like trying to update/fix a cosplay using a dressform that's definitely now too small for me. Skirts will be fuller, shirt used to be a dicky but now will have a little structure. Idk what I'm doing about the collar yet; it sits weird but I don't want to mess with the trim this time around.

Three custom badge ribbons vertically arranged like they're on a badge. Top is lavender with silver text that reads "new old friend" and a mask, middle is maroon with gold text that reads "do you know...la hee?" and an otomatone on either side, and the bottom is purple with silver text that reads "I am stifled by this vessel of flesh" and an Ascian glyph to the right.
Ribbons are too reflective.
Anyway, my main ribbons for ALA are all FFXIV because it's my personality at this point (and I'll be wearing Emet). One more is ordered that should arrive in time. I'm bad at handing these out but maybe I'll attract enough attention this time around.

Made with 3 types of black satin, black velvet, and red silk. Wire in the tiered skirts and horsehair in the hem. Everything gold (minus the trim) was made by @dangerousladies.ca though the shoulder armor was painted by me. Had to hunt for a fur that wasn't white; my apartment is now covered in it
I have a number of things to fix (shoulder armor attachment being #1) but I suspected as much before the test run. Hoping to have this in better shape by ALA and Fanfest (maybe Europe too? We'll see).
Every interaction I had with people who recognized me really made my day. I'm not normally shouted at across a crowded line con area 😅

I wasn't in Emet-Selch for long on Saturday at Anime Impulse, but it was worth it for the absolute pleasure of meeting @colin-ryan.bsky.social (Alphinaud), Robert (Estinien), and Jason (Haurchefant). All were so sweet to the fans, even with 2 being crazy jetlagged.

Doing a bit of a makeup test while I sew (just in case I do finish). Mostly it's a test of how strong eyelash glue is and if I can avoid touching my forehead.
The glue is holding on, but I've been almost touching my face every ten minutes

We are finding out if I can complete this before Saturday. Finishing this bolero coat section was a big step, but I still have some important things to creatively finagle my way through. Like a standing collar with trim on all sides and somehow floating in the front 🙃

Armor and accessories pieces for Emet-Selch from FFXIV. The small pieces are all resin cast in a dark metallic gold and the larger ones are 3D printed and painted to be as close as possible.
Matching paint to resin color has been a trial, but this is close (finally)
