Fucking hell I haven't listened to Less Than Jake since I was in high school
Glad it's finally coming out. I've been checking for updates on it every month or so.
I've been writing this novel for six years and there's no end in sight.

“His shadow lay over the rocks as he bent, ending. Why not endless till the farthest star?”
- James Joyce, Ulysses

Is it actually a single sentence or is it lying? I've been tricked before...
O avalanche, will you take me with you when you fall?
- Baudelaire, “The longing for nothingness”
I stepped into an avalanche and it covered up my soul
- Leonard Cohen
"I have not read 'Ulysses', but believe that the principle of the stream-of-consciousness method is a valuable one—destined to influence fiction in the future. However, I doubt its value as an exclusive method of narration."
—H. P. Lovecraft to L. M. White, 31 May 1935, LJS 356
Not loving the new Mieko Kawakami novel so far. Hoping it picks up for me but it's looking like she's not going to top Breasts and Eggs for me.
at 250 words a page that could be 120 pages which seems reasonable

Americans love to respect their soldiers so let me make this clear: their military is an imperialist bully-squad, deployed worldwide to remind various parts of the world of America's military might, and always ready to kill whichever non-white people are in the current administration's crosshairs.
dan simmons, author of multiple, deeply contemptible works of racism fiction, has died. congratulations, and no, hyperion was not as good as the obituaries will say it was
I've written:
2 collections of short stories
1 collection and several chapbooks of poetry
1 novella that has been published in English and in French translation
I usually make money as a content writer but that stream of work has dried up. I'm offering editing services again.
The Lv1 redacted deer standing at night in the snow in front of the mountains and the moon.
But tonight Lv1 is alive and in the west

A lot of journals that say they're open to weird fiction mean like this
Missing from the book piracy debate is any mention of predatory academic publishing conglomerates like Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, De Gruyter Brill et al: all of which are massively profitable and don't pay anyone (authors, peer-reviewers) who made the bulk of their money extorting libraries
oh now we are talking about writing salaries? My contribution: No one* has ever made money from it. Don't romanticize the past. There are zillions of examples of destitution in the archives of your faves!

Ideas are not like property, Jefferson thought. They don’t work on a scarcity model—He who receives light from my candle does so without lessening my light. Jefferson opposed copyright laws.
