Had the thrilling experience of solving Friday’s puzzle on my phone in my hotel room (not the thrilling part) and not knowing who the constructor was and halfway through thinking “damn this is good, who made this?” and then afterwards finding out it was my ❤️friend❤️ @fabioethics.bsky.social !!!

I've had the privilege of working alongside Seçil for the past month at the Brocher Foundation in Switzerland as she's been putting the finishing touches on this book. I have learned so much from her about syphilis in the Ottoman Empire, and the history of Ottoman medicine in general!

Really grateful for the experts over at @scotusblog.com and their community of commenters — at least we don't have to go through today's oral arguments alone <3

April Fools' pranks are getting and less and less believable.

Like I'm seeing websites claiming that the government of the United States is going to argue in court today that the Fourteenth Amendment denies birthright citizenship to kids born here just because their parents didn't enter lawfully.

yes, among other things! there are bioethics considerations embedded in so many intersections of immigration and health policy (e.g., basing rights to prenatal care in the future citizenship of a fetus has implications for fetal personhood)

Pregnant in ICE Detention: Handcuffs and Pleas for Medical Care

This article is horrifying but not surprising, in light of the U.S.'s historical treatment of immigrants, including pregnant immigrants.

Here's a gift link to read the whole, awful story:
