It features three cats with intricate, unique patterns on their bodies.
The artist notes that these are manually embroidered and sometimes sold with baby cats included.
The designs are often inspired by traditional art patterns like folk embroidery or floral themes.

But that wouldn't be a Lynch film. For Lynch, that very artifice of our world is just as critical to our life experiences as what is "Real". He is deeply interested in the synthetic structures that we create, and the ways in which they deform under stress. And that's why I love Blue Velvet.

One common criticism of the film is that it demands these raw vulnerable performances (from Isabella Rossellini in particular) that are uncomfortable and heartfelt, to then turn to pastiche, to the artifice of the world. There is definitely a version of the film that is unflinching and real.

I love Blue Velvet. I've seen the film so many times and yet it still captures me. There's so much I would love to talk about that simply does not suit this format. The performances, the music, the set design, the furniture.

In the distance, a single, larger boat braves the sea as well, lit by a single break in the dreary, overcast sky.

After an extensive wait, I present my largest painting to date! Thank you for your patience!! From the start, this piece presented near endless challenges, too, many lessons I'll not soon forget.

I'll be in London on the 25th so I suppose I'll try and hit up LondonFurs?

I will probably not know anyone there and sit in a corner for a bit until I have to go but who knows!

Though there were elements that seemed to make no sense or come out of nowhere, the broad strokes of the narrative flowed.

There are a lot of things wrong with the film but I can at least say it was never boring. I would even dare to say I enjoyed it.

It's unfortunate that (1984) Dune's reputation precedes it. I would have loved to watch the film as it was presented but I couldn't shake the persistent thought that "it isn't that bad..."

I think some of that comes with the cursory knowledge of Dune through cultural osmosis.

His final wonderful moment before he dies is a performance being dedicated to him. A performance he played no part in the production of. I guess that's kind of the film.

And yet, the film wants to treat his life as warm and uplifted. He is happy and fulfilled. He chooses to die content. But what has he actually gained? He moves up in class and status, sure, but he never gets to do *anything*.

He is taken from a sideshow where he is a spectacle to common folk, to become one for doctors in a hospital and then nobles. The Queen herself takes interest. His life continues where he is paraded from place to place until he finally makes one choice in his life: to kill himself.

It's tragic.

The Elephant Man.

Hmm. Technically, it's fine. I could nit-pick but as whole it's fine. Whatever.

The narrative is rough. The film presents us with a man with bodily deformities that reduce him to an oddity to be observed. He has no agency in his life: he moves and speaks as demanded.

Eraserhead, however, is an earnest freudian exploration of sex, parenthood and neglect.

It never falters. It is uncomfortable and lingering and it is wonderful.

For it to be Lynch's directorial debut is astonishing.

Starting with Eraserhead and I can see why this film is so lauded. There's a lot of the recognisable markers of a Lynch film present in this and yet it feels distinct from the rest of his works. There's a real purity to it. A lot of his later films are interested in irony and plasticity.

I've decided to watch all the Lynch films in order. I would say I'm a fan of his work but I haven't seen half of it, so let's correct that.

If I knew viewing Guernica would put money directly into the pockets of a still living Pablo Picasso, who had announced publicly that he would be using that money to terrorize, harm, and kill women, not only would I not go view Guernica, it would fundamentally change the meaning of Guernica as art.

Usually such figures appear being white, so I bought this one thanks to its uncommon color.

I had a job to do in South Queensferry yesterday , and I left home in brilliant sunshine. However, when I arrived in South Queensferry, it was shrouded in haar. Not to be deterred, I went back to North Queensferry, found a nice vantage point, and waited for this to unfold in front of me.

I don't think they needed to be historically accurate but I think it's a little disappointing they didn't make an interesting bird choice that expresses something about the world or the characters.

I like birds too much, sorry.

Reading an article and apparently the bird was meant to be a Kestrel but they were disappointed with its size and decided to go with the "bigger and cooler" Harris Hawk.

Hate to be that person but watching Hamnet and seeing that the bird they chose for 16th Century England falconry was a Harris Hawk took me completely out of the film.
