co-authors should make accounts on arxiv
and claim the papers they are on
then if/when co-authors are submitting authors they are in and verified
take ownership and tell all your co-authors to do so also
and submitting authors should share claim codes
we are running eternal battles with ever cleverer bots,
and we are aided by some serious players
mostly a combination of "but, my needs are urgent..." combined with did not RTFM
and, sadly, mostly script kiddies who don't really know better

Looking at the AAS jobregister lately, it seemed to me that there are less positions available in all categories than in previous years. Wanting to quantify, I used the wayback machine to check on the number of postings in the January-March window and it is quite depressing.
