Ah. Pretty much just my take from conversations and feedback on social media that may not reflect the overall opinion out in the real world. Comic readers are a finicky bunch, quick to complain. 😉
I think the drop in new character intros has more to do with Marvel Comics not properly compensating creators. If creators aren’t paid fairly for new characters, there’s less incentive to introduce them, especially when they can retain rights and credits through indie work instead.
Seems they scaled back the effort based on G.O.D.S. sales. Felt like Marvel painted themselves into a corner with that given the $10 cover price for issue 1 for new characters and a story that read better in trade. Seemed doomed to fail.

…compared to Imperial with plenty of characters most are familiar with and I thought that was some of Hickman’s worst work at Marvel to date. Nothing new, recycled ideas, poorly executed. 🤷♂️
As someone (me) that complains that Marvel doesn’t often enough take chances on stories and create new interesting characters, I thought G.O.D.S. did that and then some. Many just want the same thing over and over, thought this was a great departure from the usual. But not for everyone…

Wonder if Marvel had bigger plans for G.O.D.S. that got scaled back when sales lagged as they seem to be doing with Imperial. Wild both are Jonathan Hickman projects.

Yep, it’s a sad truth it seems. The publishers blitzing the racks with variants, blind bags, and incentive variants probably leads to a lot of stale stock. That said, oddly comes at a time when reported sales and interest seem high but seems speculators are making their presence known.
