not sure what i'm gonna do with these yet beyond the obvious repurposing of a few for sea collages, but excited by the accidental layering
set of cigarette cards illustrated with sea creaturs drying on a tea towel
close up of a cigarette card with painted illustration of rock samphire with green leaves and yellow flowers, text from the back of another card faintly transferred onto it in mirror image. 'THE SEA–SHORE' is sort of legible, but written backwards
ordered a cheap lot of cigarette cards off ebay and discovered why it was cheap when it arrived – multiple cards fused into blocks by their gluey backs. hot water separated them but transferred some printed text in the process, and honestly i love the effect. E R O H S – A E S
one of the extras i’ll be sending out to all subscribers this month is a double-sided sheet of tips for collage & for submitting your work to various opportunists, regardless of genre. these are materials i’ve developed for workshops, and i think there’s some worthwhile stuff in there 🌞

a copy of le Jardin des dévotions, a ttrpg zine, held up in front a blooming lilac tree on a sunny day. the cover is a collage featuring nature, zodiac and architectural imagery.
an interior page titled Œvres (Works), with text in French describing different options and a border of floral imagery. real fig leaves and wild garlic flowers are resting on the open page.

I'm making a bundle to raise funds for housing, wheelchairs, clothes, boots, toys for the kids etc. Please join the jam to join the bundle and help us out? itch.io/jam/sky-and-...

Play as two loved ones separated by the cruel veil of death and weave a path of memories back together in this folkpunk duet based on Romani folklore. (Tailor your game vibes to cosy/ emotional/ horror by choosing prompt sets to use) pennyblake.itch.io/mulengi-dori
“Plumose Anemone”, one of the many wonderful illustrative plates to appear in Philip Henry Gosse's The Aquarium (1854) which inspired the "aquarium mania" that gripped much of mid-19th century Britain. More in @BrunnerBernd's "Bringing the Ocean Home" publicdomainreview.org/essay/b...
My photo shows a frontal view of a buff-coloured Minoan pottery jug with a dark-red, stylised octopus painted beneath the dark red pouring spout. The jug has a rounded body with very short neck with out-turned rim, the body tapers downwards to a slightly turned out flat base also painted red. On each shoulder there’s a small chunky loop handle. The octopus is stylised and looks cartoon-like with a vertical dumbbell shaped body, with two large circular eyes with central red dots staring out at the viewer. From the top of the head emerge eight suckered arms. Four arms hang symmetrically downwards on each side of the body, writhing and curling at the tip. There is a similar red octopus on each side of the jug not shown in my photo.
A 3,500 year-old Minoan jar with a cartoon-like octopus under the spout! 🐙

my one player/participant across two cons so far was very engaged, at least, and also about seven years old. i had to adapt the concept a fair bit for her, but it was awesome. which tells me i should probably think about making a collage game for kids.
i do believe in my heart that this has the potential to work and be great – i've run successful writing-and-collage workshops in non-ttrpg spaces! and i know others have had success running solo/mixed-media games at cons. i think it'll get there.
i want to be honest about how these things go, so i'll say here that i got no players yesterday, though did have some nice chats with people who were curious about what it was. hopefully it just needs the right event/audience, and i'll keep experimenting with session format. on we go!

the worst i'm sorry!!
