California judge issues injunction blocking feds from freezing $10 billion in child care funding A judge in New York also previously halted the cuts the president ordered for the Democratic-led states of New York, California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota.

The administration moved to freeze funding that helps parents afford child care and helps providers keep serving families. Care is not a bargaining chip, and children should never be caught in the middle of political battles.

The Caregiver Who Can’t Afford Health Care More than three million people work as home and personal caregivers, but with low wages and changes to tax credits, many of them cannot afford health insurance.

Careworkers, who devote their lives to caring for others, should not be forced to go without care themselves.
We need a care system that values both workers and the people they care for.

The Scale of Billionaires’ Campaign Donations is Overwhelming U.S. Politics Billionaires made 19 percent of all reported federal campaign contributions in 2024, a Times analysis shows, and even more in some local elections. Wealthy donors are reaping the rewards.

When billionaires flood elections with money, working people are the ones who pay through weaker public services, rigged tax policies, and corporations calling the shots.
Democracy should belong to all of us, not just the rich.
