ha these won't be anything special, i'm not much of a model train guy but i've been kinda thinking about z gauge stuff and rokuhan is a lot cheaper over there it seems
so i might pickup a tiny starter kit with a loop and a kiha 40. and... maybe some switches... idk
okay i'm giving up for tonight. time to go to bed and watch the new witch hat itellya
it's also very cheap to produce in low quantities. though i think costs for things like injection molding and CNC have gone wayyyyyy down now
it is kind of silly but i do love a device housed in one of those cases that is just a piece of extruded alu with front/back plates
well also it's the algorithms that are Actually Useful. it takes a lot of work to make an algorithm into a system that does anything, and the systems are all bad. like even if you can use the math to do useful things, the image generation models are basically evil imo
maybe reserve a mountain bike in shizuoka... also been wondering if i should book my trains when i get there or try booking online beforehand. probably fine to do it when i get to tokyo tbh
japan trip in like 2.5 weeks now, been trying to think of anything else that needs doing but apart from the taxi to the airport (decided i cba taking transit with two backpacks and a suitcase), and stuff i don't need to do yet like packing, i think i'm mostly sorted
lol yeah idk what i'm doing on that front yet, i think i might split things up so even if my checked bag got lost i still have my m50 with the pancake lens and some clothes
though hell idk that i could even fit both my clothes and all my camera gear in my carryon
tbh i definitely have skill issues vis-à-vis travel but the real reason i'm bringing a suitcase is because i plan on bringing back like. several kilos of tea, a kitchen knife or two, a tiny model train set... just normal stuff
i gotta admit despite My Heritage i'm not actually a huge cheese guy... but i hope you're at least pronouncing Gouda correctly
do not give in. it is a sacred tradition
potato chips??? but they are a kind and gentle food!
i just can't handle certain kinds of candy anymore now i think but if i had to give up potato chips, idk what i'd do with myself really

hell yeah! i love when people produce more bombs 😍 i wonder where they'll be dropped next...
wow good name too
wow and i didn't even get temporarily locked out by KNMI this time as my little tool downloaded all the archived radar scans they have
(they keep a day or two for both radars but i want to store more. it's a scan every 5min so that's over 1k files, and the limits are based on the number of files)
i also decided to start logging raw radar data from KNMI. that's another like, 1-2 terabyte per year but i have the space, for now anyway
and that should come in useful if i do end up doing fancier forecasts
