The first batch of photos are from the solar eclipse, the Moon and Orion backlit by the Sun and Earth (on the left side of the moon. Saturn can be seen as the bright spot at the bottom right of the moon.
CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut and Artemis II Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen is seen taking images through the Orion spacecraft window early in the Artemis II lunar flyby.
Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman peers out the window of the Orion spacecraft just as his first lunar observation period of the day begins.
Artemis II Pilot Victor Glover and Mission Specialist Christina Koch gather images and observations of the lunar surface to share with the world during the lunar flyby on the sixth day of the mission.
Midway through their lunar observation period, the Artemis II crew members – Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen – pause to turn the camera around for a selfie inside the Orion spacecraft.
The Moon shots are incredible, but as a bts person these are what really landed with me. This is why we send people. The quantitative data we get from probes is great, but it’s nothing compared to the qualitative feelings and art that comes from sending humans.
