I gave blood today. It is the first time I have been allowed to give blood in New Zealand after living in the UK during the CJD scare. I signed up as soon as they announced the rule change.

It's amazing what a very small spelling error can do when you are searching on the internet.

Chart from the latest Emissions Gap report showing existing fossil fuel extraction infrastructure against the 1.5C and 2C carbon budgets.

Chart from the latest Emissions Gap report showing existing fossil fuel extraction infrastructure against the 1.5C and 2C carbon budgets.

One of many key figures from the 2023 Emissions Gap report: Burning coal, oil and gas from existing mines and fields would exceed the 1.5C carbon budget by 250 percent and nearly exhaust the 2C budget.

Exploring for new fossil fuels is inconsistent with 1.5C.

Meaning that this is a clear election victory for the Pāti Māori / Green / Labour / NZ First alliance! <jk>

2 years ago 2 0 0 0

And NZ First and Act both lost a small bit of ground (0.34% and 0.38% respectively) but not enough to change the seat distribution and no change in electorates.

Labour's vote is largely unchanged (26.90% to 26.91%) and both lost two and gained two electorates, so end up in exactly the same position as three weeks ago.

Green Party went from 10.77% on the night to 11.60%. No change in electorates results but an extra seat entitlement taking them to 15.

Te Pāti Māori go from 2.61% on the night to 3.08% pick up two more electorates (Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau) and gain an extra seat entitlement. This takes their total to 6 from 4 but only increases the overhang by one more to 122.

National lose two electorates (Nelson and Te Atatū) and drop from 38.95% to 38.06% losing two seat entitlements overall. They therefore keep 5 list seats but drop from a total of 50 to 48.
