The new "Lois" magnolia trees planted in front of the Hesburgh Library last year are starting to bloom.
These replaced the previous Callery pear trees that were removed (because they are terrible invasive and they're taking over entire fields throughout the Midwest).

In 1924, Notre Dame started construction on Old Students' Hall. Before it opened, it was renamed Howard Hall, in honor of Timothy Howard, Class of 1862. The first residents moved in in fall 1925. During WWII, Howard housed U.S. Naval officers in training.
