Really sad news. They've been struggling for a while, but somehow I always imagined that they'd pull through.

He's pretty clearly a conservative, but an anti-corruption conservative is a pretty big improvement over Orban

@fst.bsky.social It's good to see you over here! I had to examine your posting history for an embarrassingly long time before I was completely sure that you were you, because I was so thrown by the red sox posting

AIUI, sufficiently early roman religion was more it's own thing - identifying with the greek gods and importing the greek mythology developed later. It happened before we started to get really good written records though, so recovering information about the older versions is tricky

How he would say it, that is. This is what I get for revising a post instead of just posting the first version that pops into my head without thinking about it too much

Sure, just import PortingTask from myself, and put an __all__ in a file that isn't __init__.py. This is definitely functional code.

Also the way the python code is laid out here is absurd: a lot of these submodules contain nothing but an __init__.py - why is this a submodule? Why are there so many files that contain nothing but a single (very short) class? It feels actively hostile to the source code being read by a human

Skimming the readme and I'm not entirely convinced the author understands what constitutes a "clean-room implementation", given that they describe personally examining the original codebase and the overseeing the AI agents doing the rewrite

Anyway, my opinion about Star Trek, which is Good and Correct, is that two things have gone wrong: it is best served by 22 episode seasons, which streaming has killed, and also it is a franchise that needs you to inhabit the worldview of a Centre-Left Army Guy that few in modern US TV do.
