We marched for independence and against racism

Our "A Scotland for All - Against Racism and Fascism" bloc on Saturday's Believe in Scotland march for independence united around 50 people from a range of organisations and none.

With thousands of people, the independence movement defied the intimidatory tactics of the far-right, who screamed racist and transphobic epithets from a tiny counter-protest - where one speaker repeatedly performed a Nazi salute. There were many, many more of us than them.

While Britain’s largest-ever march against the far-right was taking place in London, we were bringing the politics of the anti-racist movement to the independence march in Edinburgh.
