Seconded. Pretty much all the advice I've gotten is that if you've got a reasonable buffer of savings and you don't need the money now? Throw extra money into your pension. It's one of the most tax efficient and long term investments currently possible in the UK. Just with a long payoff time.

Can recommend many of the mid sized cons in the UK. The focus is almost entirely on playing board games, rather than trading or other aspects. Those are good but I'm definitely there to play games.

Boardgames conventions are great for that. You can go and just play boardgames solidly for three days. It's what I've been doing. 9am to about 11pm Fri, Sat and now some more on Sunday
