After 4 months of procrastination I finally managed to resume work on Sprite Breaker and get it into a playable state and publish it on Itch! It's not finished, but it's just about playable. I wrote a blog post about this procrastination issue I had. rheyan.itch.io/sprite-break...

I've been struggling to finish two games that I started months ago, I don't know why. Is it possible that the act of finishing and publishing a game is actually a SKILL that can be practiced and learned? I want to find out! youtu.be/2NMXqkV4h1E #gamedev #indiedev #unity
For CodeMonkey's latest #GameDev Practice Lab, he's challenging us to create a traffic control system! This first scene is the most basic version. #ScreenshotSaturday #Unity
Working on a CCTV camera system for Code Monkey's #GameDev Practice Lab challenge! He's done all the hard work, I just setup the camera's hehe! #unity #ScreenshotSaturday
I've had quite a long break from #gamedev but joining the Practice Lab from #CodeMonkey has got me back into it! I'm currently working on implementing a save system for his little city builder scene. #WIPWednesday #unity
CodeMonkey has just launched a program called the #GameDev Practice Lab. It's not a course and doesn't contain any tutorials. Instead, he builds out a demo scene of some kind and then gives you objectives to complete within that scene to stretch your knowledge. I have joined it! youtu.be/82IrGscQzZ4
Another #devlog for Sugar in Shadows posted. I'm almost caught up with these now! youtu.be/DBMHbxMV0Y4 #gamedev #indiedev #madewithunity
I have found that when I work consistently at the things I love doing (game development, but other things too), I am just happier in general, even in other areas of life that are not so fun, like a crappy job! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppdj... #ThursdayThoughts #gamedev #consistency
Well I made it, though my whole party were in poor health! Still, not bad for the first time playing the game. #games #oregontrail
Despite my age I have somehow managed to completely miss this entire series of games! I've always wanted to play them but never got around to it until today. I'm starting with a pretty early version here! #games #oregontrail
I am struggling to get back into this game! I actually recorded this video back in December and I'm only getting around to posting it now, and I've still not worked on the game since then so the problem persists! youtu.be/pOUu8YU0eVk #gamedev #devlog
Catching up with my card game, Sugar in Shadows. I've replaced the core card gathering mechanics with a simple bakery scene where you can go and collect treats (draw cards) in a way that makes more sense. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhCi... #gamedev #devlog #unity
Can Games be a Medium For Making a Positive Impact? I ask myself this question in my own games, and showcase a small free game that I found recently which was very obviously designed to make an impact. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeWW... #games #ThursdayThoughts
Recently I posted this video about the destructive effect that just a short period of crunch time had on my game. For me it was a very negative experience overall, and one I wouldn't want to repeat. www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3pm... #gamedev #crunchtime #ThursdayThoughts
Starting work on refactoring my code after the game jam ended, to try and fix the broken gameplay loop youtu.be/wvOt4B2Jl40 #gamedev #indiedev #madewithunity
I posted a bit of a retrospective on crunching at the end of a #gamejam, and how that ended up being a very poor decision! www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3pm... #GameDev #IndieDev #ThursdayThoughts
This was the last #devlog I recorded before the deadline of the #gamejam. In a mad rush at the end and in a stressed and sleep deprived state, I managed to break everything! youtu.be/PT-vuK6ERa0 #gamedev #indiedev #madewithunity
Sorry only just seen this. Yeah I know it's technically possible but honestly I prefer the vector graphics. This is just a little practice game, the art style doesn't really matter anyway.
Another #devlog for my card game. Here I use the awesome Village Generator to create a scene within the game. youtu.be/46AdBVy-gGg #gamedev #indiedev #unity #madewithunity
That's an interesting idea, but I can't really alter the pixelation. The artwork here isn't a design choice - it's a case of having to work with the art assets that I have available
Usually when I want to try out a new game idea I start a new #unity project which is a ton of clutter, disk space, Github repos etc. I decided to bring all of these together into a single "Prototypes" project with a separate scene for each one. Thoughts? #gamedev #indiedev #FeedbackFriday
My Christmas present to myself! Bought these #games in the sale 😁
The numbers are a little off (9 games total including the tutorials) but this is a great summary of "Your Year with ChatGPT". I love how much I talk about my cat to the AI that it knew to include her in this summary of our conversations this year 🥰#chatgpt #gamedev
Unity 6.3 LTS is here and brings with it an obscure but useful feature for 2D developers - "render 3D as 2D", which basically allows you to use 3D models like they were 2D sprites. Check out this #tutorial to see it in action www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vZy... #TutorialTuesday #unity #gamedev #indiedev
A little video walkthrough of my "Year with ChatGPT" for 2025. Very revealing, a little bit shocking in places (25k messages sent!) and quite funny! youtu.be/sQ72Otwp0JU #gamedev #chatgpt
Another #devlog for Sugar in Shadows, my little card game originally started in a recent #gamejam. youtu.be/BZuZ4sPDYKo #gamedev #maewithunity
As we near the end of 2025, we often start thinking of the new year and start setting goals and resolutions for ourselves. As game developers, I think this is a pretty bad idea for most people. Here's why, and what to do instead. youtu.be/ymR3m9-LER0 #gamedev
Catching up on #devlog videos for this game www.youtube.com/watch?v=fai8... #gamedev #indiedev #cardgame #unity
I recently started upgrading my projects to #Unity 6.3 LTS and one of them gave me an obscure error message when I tried to build it. This is the fix. youtu.be/inaBf1WfdxI #gamedev #unityengine
A huge amount of people want to make games, you're probably one of them if you're looking at this... But how many "aspiring game developers" will ever make a game? How many will start one? How many will even start seriously learning? Shockingly few, sadly. youtu.be/67uuU3avwtQ #gamedev
