There’s ppl on the NDIS for psychosocial conditions where if the supports are withdrawn they will be a threat themselves & others, costing millions in damages. Framing supports as only open to ppl with “profound disability” exposes the stereotypes and prejudices in public understanding of disability

No worries, thanks for the response. The relationship model you refer to, seeing and knowing each other, is modelled in Heated Rivalry, (ultimately) I think. What do you think?
Fascinating reading, thank you for sharing. The bird has me wondering the connection to sister. The asylum descriptions are chillingly vivid and evocative
Making voting accessible to all is a good step to democracy

Until Aus voters get really fucking angry & really fucking vocal nowt will happen except fossil industry outrage that its status as untouchable is being challenged. Supported in turn by Aus media outrage at the audacity of "those types" forgetting their place. Call your MP Call your senator #auspol
I’m no longer on Twitter because X and am sad to not see Tern’s posts any more. Thank you for sharing their post
I’m mostly the only one in a mask and am pleased to report that people accept and respect me like that. In person counselling clients mask without fuss. The more we model this with a confident attitude the more accepted it should be.
Today at Dam Square in Amsterdam, thousands of children’s shoes were placed in front of the Royal Palace to honour the ~20,000 children killed in Gaza. Each name was read aloud, remembering every young life lost.

Tell me, when you drop bombs on giant crowds of peaceful protestors, are you the good guys?
Brave, clever and funny

Since the toilets on Orion are a continuing topic of fascination, here's a thread about space toilets. It's not just about function - toilets are symbolic and social too, and raise issues of privacy and intimacy. This image shows how to use the Apollo Fecal Containment Device.

Wow, Cyndi, this is an excellent framing of how we have learned to be in relationships, why it does not work well and how it can be different. Thank you

when an annotated open letter on substack - with the source republished in full - provides better reporting than the entire political-media class. Wow.

Mitchell Katz has never had a mammogram and it shows.
Not a chance in heck I’d trust an automated machine with that process. I barely trust humans with it now anyway
I’m pleased Australia is continuing its communications role in space travel
Thoughtful, beautiful, deeply symbolic and profound design

On this year’s long covid awareness day, I want more people to read and think about what the late Shafiqah Hudson said before it killed her. Because she was right, as usual, and also early, as usual. Perhaps too early for a lot of people to listen.
Read the latest from the Covid-Is-Not-Over newsletter:

What inspires someone to pursue physics for life?
From discovering general relativity to the encouragement of mentors, women in our community share the moments that shaped their journeys.
This #InternationalWomensDay we’re celebrating women advancing physics and inspiring the next generation. 🌟
A dark blue graphic for International Women’s Day featuring a purple and blue gradient hand icon with a heart in the palm at the top. The word "WOMENS" is written in large block letters, with each letter containing a black-and-white photo of women. Below it, the word "Day" is written in pink script. At the bottom, pink text reads: "Diseases that mostly affect women – like Long Covid and ME – are still trivialised, psychologised, and dangerously underfunded. Medical misogyny isn’t a relic. It’s alive and well."
👭 On #InternationalWomensDay we honour the women with Long Covid and ME and allies who keep pushing for truth, research, and care.
♀️Listen to women. Fund the science.

In this viral clip from Cosmos Ep.1, Carl Sagan explains how Eratosthenes (276–194 BC) calculated Earth's circumference. 🔭 🧪 ⚛️
His estimate: 250,000 stadia ≈ 25,000 miles (~40,000 km).
Crazy accurate for 2200+ years ago!
