I do think adjustable text speed is necessary, but typewriter text does add a bit of "tone" that revealing it all at once doesn't have, esp when you play with how quickly it's revealed. Playing back text quickly to indicate urgency, or playing it back slowly to indicate hesitation becomes tools

random items that don't do anything but clutter my inventory. unless inventory management is the core fun / puzzle of the game (ala Dredge), just auto convert it to currency or something. i like picking thing up, i do not like wading through the mass of the things i picked up

typewriter text jumping lines mid-word

the thing where it'll get halfway through a longish word and then, as it reveals the word, jump the entire word to the next line

usually it's bc under the hood they're adding the letters one at a time rather than revealing with an opacity shift
