POLITICO: "California judge restricts offshore oil company despite Trump administration intervention"
Donald Trump and Big Oil's illegal ploy to restart the Sable oil pipeline in Santa Barbara County was just REJECTED.
Launching a reckless war with Iran and creating a global oil crisis doesn't suddenly allow these guys to break the law.
Villaraigosa had a whole website about him and it’s exactly what I remember about him. It’s serious stuff - losing child migrants who were exploited for their labor. He’s incompetent
www.becerrafacts.com
I am undecided as between Porter and Steyer
Facebook post: Dem activist met Becerra, asked him about Chevron money, he ducked the question
and, since it's now widely known in California Democratic circles that Becerra ♥️ Chevron, CHASER.
He's a coward on top of being an oil guy.
Chevron maxes out to Becerra, its first donation to a California gubernatorial candidate since 2014
I get asked a lot why I'm Team Never Becerra. Answer, in two parts.
SHOT
4. (the last one, I promise) another broad question. We've done so much on energy efficiency, but created a big backlash against "burdensome regulations." Isn't it time to stop thinking efficiency, and start thinking transition? I have specific examples -- lightbulbs are low hanging fruit.
3. Climate/ ag policy. Dems do NOT have a comprehensive progressive ag policy. People talk generally about regenerative (climate-friendly) ag policy but IMO very few people know what they're talking about. California feeds America.
2. Transit/ transportation policy, which isn't on his website. Finishing HSR, yay or nay? Get people out of ICE cars and into EVs or into public transit? Expand public transit how and where? if EVs, tax credit that is means-tested or open to all? etc
oh hai, native Californian here. I got lots. 1. Broadly: fight Trump and play defense, or ignore him and build a big visionary California? Reestablish Cal clean car waiver and dare him to sue? Withhold or escrow the taxes that this blue/ giver state pays to subsidize red/ taker states?
There's a lot more. Like AG Becerra refusal to act on Exxon Knew despite 4 years of advocacy. His current position on making Polluters Pay.
Stop trying to make Becerra happen, folk
Chevron maxed out to Becerra. He's a non starter among climate folk
I will be a friend if paid $250. I will champion rapists for.... no. Can't do it.
Invite -- Eric Swalwell for governor event, minimum $250 donation.
email that I got at 930 this morning. Wanna go?
yep.
But the rumor that I heard is not rape.
And rape is a whole 'nother level of sickness. It's not "an intern problem." It's evil. It's a criminal matter.
Swalwell needs to step down.
🧵ended.
and what I heard is ugly and heartbreaking and infuriating -- but not the kind of thing that I would mention in public without facts, like the woman involved stepping forward.
In case you're wondering, I don't live on Capitol Hill and I'm my own boss and I've generally set up my life to steer clear of workplace drama, and I only heard SOME rumors about Swalwell in the last month or so.
But, related point, unless women (not one woman -- see 1st point) were willing to come forward, an open secret remains just that. And people dismiss it as rumor. It's not until some brave soul decides to speak out do we end up with facts.
why the fuck people like Jimmy Gomez, Adam Schiff, Adam Gray, Ruben Gallego, many others were endorsing him in the first place, (likely) knowing the open secret, is a different matter. They thought it could be buried? they didn't care? IDK.
which brings me to the 1st point about rumors vs open secrets -- THE TELL. The tell is how quickly all the electeds started un-endorsing him. I think the first was half an hour after the story broke. They all knew the open secret and they knew that once it came to light he'd be toast.
and I invite folk to follow @danteatkins.bsky.social if you haven't already, who worked on Capitol Hill for a while and knew the open secret, and had some things to say yesterday... bsky.app/profile/dant...
2d point is on the difference between "rumors," "open secrets," and "facts." Should a politician be discredited on the basis of rumors alone? most people say no. But Swalwell's behavior was an open secret in at least some parts of Capitol Hill.
Working my way thru the Swalwell stuff and I'm going to make two points. 🧵time!
The 1st is simple. Believe women. And it's always "women," plural, because sadly no one believes one woman. We're conditioned to "he said she said" when it's just one woman. It always takes multiple women.

A woman who worked for nearly two years for Rep. Eric Swalwell told the Chronicle she had sexual encounters with him while he was her boss and alleged he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent. www.sfchronicle.com/politics/art...
