Will tell you that they lack nutrition as a result.

When I started work today I had already taken 13k steps. I had a bowl of rice with some zucchini or something with cheese in it for breakfast (community center slop) and a small bowl of Cheerios. That's it. How does one survive on that?

Pepperoni, and provolone to make adult lunchables pizzas. The 4pm dinner is now off the table for me though, since I start at 4. So I am back to throwing meals together without the space or tools to cook. Luckily my workplace has a microwave, but anyone who has lived on nothing but microwave food

Only eat ready made foods, or things that don't require cooking. But if you're out here on food stamps, you can't buy ready made food. The most solid meal I ate in the weeks before I was introduced to the local community center (which serves dinner every day at 4pm) was naan rounds, pizza sauce,

7 posts in and I only touched on the obvious issues with not having access to water.

After that, we can talk about how the city is so hostile to us that guys are telling me that they've had cops show up to stop them from using an electric griddle they plugged in at the park. This means that you can

There's no guarantee my clothes would be clean and dry in time. And for some reason my job has only given me 1 of the required uniform shirt. So it's normally disgusting by the end of the week even though I shower daily.

He starts 15 minutes early just so I can definitely get one before having to leave for work. Part of the reason I needed the bike in the previous thread is that this still pushes it, and having the bike lets me get to work from there in less than 15 minutes. Still can't do laundry though, since

A sleeping bag is all well and good when it's 50 or lower outside. But 70 and up you still need it, it's your only protection from mosquitoes, but now you're sweating those gross night sweats.

I am currently lucky that I have become friends with the guy at the community center who runs showers.

Same general period as the showers though and only on weekdays. If you aren't, able to, you have to go to a laundromat. And sure, plenty of housed people need to use laundromats, but they also have more that 1 weeks worth of clothing and aren't sleeping outside every night in their clothes.

Hands.

Here, the local community center runs showers for 1 hour each day. You have to get there during that hour. It's hot and humid here. If you work during that hour, you are SoL. They also have 2 sets of washers and dryers and they let you sign up to do laundry. You have to be there during the

Extra funds for buying food out. Now imagine that is every day. You have no clean water to cook with. You can't clean your clothes without spending money. You can't get a shower. You have to travel to a public building to use their facilities whenever you need to shit, piss, or just wanna wash your

To be clear this isn't the half of the issue. This is just what has affected me in the last month or so which had me feeling rough and needing to vent.

Have you ever woken up or gotten home and the water has been out? Everything you have to cook in the house requires you to boil water? You have no

I will never forget Dr Anwar Shaikh explaining that he's told by the establishment economists that the numbers he's following are useless, meanwhile they actually just cut through all the fantastical thinking bullshit. "Invisible hand of the market? You been firms setting prices?"

Next check I am gonna have to do this dance all over again.

I am not splurging. I am doing things right. But I am broke, tired, covered in big bites, wearing dirty clothes because after everything I didn't have enough for laundry...

But please, liberals, tell me all about how luxurious it is

6 days ago 4 0 1 0

I am broke, I am carrying all my shit around on foot, I am getting eaten alive by mosquitos every night since I lost my shelter. And now the recent and important luxury I had afforded myself, is broken and I am not sure when or if I will get my money back.

Me holding the broken pedal up to the place it snapped from. You can see the corroded metal.

Now, that bike I spent half my money on turned out to be defective. The metal in the bar attaching one of the pedals was corroded and broke off this morning. I just put the thing together yesterday.

Into.

My last paycheck I spent half on a new bike to give me freedom to move around town (public transit here is sparse and doesn't operate outside of 6am to 6pm mon-fri) and the other half went to replacing shit I needed from the destroyed camp. Not all of it, but the most necessary.

Some of those purchases had been included in their destruction. The only reason most of it wasn't is because my most important things are always on me in my backpack, and the local community center had just given me a locker, which I had not yet been able to move everything important from the camp
