Hmm... I wonder if a "better" approach to get the baseline raster would be to rasterize the centre line to a 1/no data raster, multiply this by the dem, then use gdal fill nodata to fill with nearest neighbour interpolation (instead of idw).

Here's one week of ocean tides animated across Australasia (🔵= high tide, 🔴 = low tide). 🌊 Pretty incredible how complex (and hypnotic!) they are!

Well this is certainly a much more interesting place to be than it was a fortnight ago! (From a mappy perspective at least 🥳)
