Police In, ICE Out? Police appropriation, law-enforcement loops, and the contradiction of police dependency in "sanctuary" cities.

Unleashed from my notes app, I bring you … my Substack.

I’ll be using this to write about abolition (with an emphasis on the carceral tissue of local policymaking), and probably music/books/pedagogy from time to time.

One Battle After Another flattens and even disappears its most complex characters, who are also the ones most capable of answering the movie’s central questions.

I hate that we have to do this again but y’all realize they pick the ones who might be dangerous and give them the Super Bowl to neutralize them, right?

What age is appropriate to introduce your kids to Memphis underground rap from the 1990s? This is a part of parenting I’m really looking forward to but I’ve gotten conflicting feedback.

In KC now tho we have Astringent Press, run by the kindest human being, that has basically become a community print hub for all the organizers artists and weirdos.

I get a real rush from this. Figuring out office patterns so you know when you can be alone with the printer. Mapping out which copiers have color ink or auto staple.
